Besides being 2 years older and I have 18k on my car, The reason I'm thinking about it is because I've loved the cosmetic changes they made on the front and rear of the 13/14. The hId headlights are also an option that I wish I would of got on my 12 and now they are standard. The thing I dislike the most about the 11 and 12 is the rear end And Ford fixed that on the 13 and 14. I called my salesman and talked to them about it this week and it seems like the price range would be right with a trade in and my payments would be the same. I really don't see why I should not do it for a newer car with 0 miles and it being the last year model. I would trade my Kona for DIB. I absolutely love my car though with that being said and I'm scared I'll miss it even if I get a newer model with the upgrades that I want like HID's and possibly a shaker. Thoughts?

More work on your part will mean more money in your pocket and less left at the dealership. I agree with Joe on this one...

I'm not sure which would be better for you trade or sell, as I've never played with it on a newer car as of yet. But as far as looking to get a 14 I say do it. You will love every aspect of it, I know I do.

You know I have thought of doing the same thing my self. There are some things I like on the 13/14 but not enough to trade in my modded 12 in for, it's just not worth it to me for some minor changes. The one dislike I have with the new models is they all almost look the same vs the 11/12 models you could tell wether you had a Shelby or a Boss or GT/CS.
Me I will hold off and see what the the 15's will look like.

Simple answer, no.

Same payments you say? Sure... But for longer. Lol. If I were a salesman, you'd be my perfect client.

And if you did get it, what happens in 2016? Then in 2018? The never-ending but always-money-losing predicament.

Wait and see how bad or good 2015 looks and then make a decision.

It depends... if you want the diaper look keep the 12. Or if you want the Shelby wannabe look get the 14.

Everyone else says it, and I do too. You are losing money. Period.

But... if it will make you happier than what you have now... if, in your opinion, you are going to be ok with never acquiring that, in effect, lost money, and keeping a payment on the car for an additional few years...

Personally, that answer is "no chance ever." That is a wanderlust type of item, at best, this particular scenario, anyway. When I bought Awesome, the HoopTBird was on it's very last legs, and I had no interest whatsoever in keeping it running, or in my possession. Bye, thanks, but you're out, HTB.

However, our opinions mean absolutely jack squat. **You** must, ultimately, make that decision yourself, and then live with the consequences, much like all decisions in this crazy mixed up thing called life.

As for losing money, they will give me 23k for my 12'. I paid $28,900 out the door. I only owe 10 k. Do you really think I can get much more than that on an outright sell? It's a base automatic GT, (tuned for now with cai), GT5OO a/b, AM Saleen wheels.

I'm X-Plan and my payments may actually be cheaper. I don't see getting much more than 23k selling it private party or am I missing something?

Sounds like someone's got new car fever - at that point really any number will do...

No need to go over the whole shpiel -
Gonna lose money/value etc

Also the 2015s are coming out...you're gonna be able to stomach seeing those run around when you could have just waited another 6-10 months...?

Couple of thoughts. As others have said, you should be able to get more selling it than trading it in. I just sold my '07 Honda S2000 rather than trading it in for my 2014 Mustang. The dealer would not have been able to give me more than about 15K. I got 18K and probably could have gotten more if I had waited for better weather. I'd rather have that 3K in my pocket than in the dealer's.

As to the 2015, that's a tough call. If you buy a 2014 and then see the 2015 and love it, you'll have buyer's remorse big time. On the other hand, if you wait and then really don't like the look of the 2015, you will have to take whatever has already been produced for 2014. You will no longer have the option of ordering a 2014 just the way you want it.

I had thought about waiting for the 2015, but I really like the look of the 2014 so I pulled the trigger. I'm glad I did. It's an awesome car.

Good luck with your decision.

This is classic salesman phone speak... so I'd kinda like to know how quick the great deal would change if you actually went in and sat down.

I like when the sales guys don't know as much about the financing, options, and information on the particular car I'm going in to buy. I do this every time and I always get a kick out of it. I do my research before I go in and I'm "That Guy" that the salesman spend so much time in meetings about. Sounds like a better deal now that we know the numbers a little more. I would still wait for the new ones to come out just to give you more options.

It doesn't matter if you owe money on your 12 or not. I've owned my cars since day 1... but that doesn't mean I will trade them in every 2 years a newer and better model comes out. Bottom line, you WILL lose money regardless. Like I said you are the perfect client if I was a sales guy. All I have to do is sit and wait, then slowly (maybe fast) reel you in.

I would suggest you sit down, think about it, reflect.... Etc. If you can afford to make the payments for longer AND you are ok with losing money, by all means go for it. Your money your choice. But you came on here for advice, so my 2 cents.

Yep exactly. New car fever has no cure. Cars, just like technology will ALWAYS get better. That fever is insatiable. Folks need to cure that from within. If folks are rich and can afford being sick... Then argument is null.

I just went through this myself...ended up keeping it. I had my eye on a 2014 DIB GT/CS w/NAV & 3.73's.

Ask yourself this...."how much more in addition to your car will you have to spend?" Now think what you could get for your car with that money.

bottom line, spending $600 on 2013 taillights for was cheaper than spending $8k additional for a new car. The taillights were NOT the only reason I wanted a new car, but it turned out that after I swapped them out I was happy keeping my car. I can still add a ROUSH TVS & Recarro seats for under $8k!
