Shifter base gasket - do I need it?

I got a gift certificate to MGW for x-mas, and I'm finally ordering my shifter today. Do I need to buy this gasket from American Muscle as well?

No. The MGW re-uses the stock gasket, save your money or upgrade the shift ****.

I want to retain the factory **** and boot. So reusing the stock gasket isn't a bad idea?

The stock one doesn't even have a gasket that looks like that. My MGW went in just fine with the stock stuff, is just as quiet as stock just feels way more precise and solid. The MGW is a great upgrade! Which one did you order?

I'm going to order it here soon. They only have one, right? The "MT-82 Equipped GT / BOSS 302 / V6 Mustangs Race Spec Short Throw Shifter"

That's the Race Spec that includes the support bar. I would have gotten that one but I have the one generation earlier and it wasn't worth upgrading when the new one came out. I'm happy with the older one though but the new one is supposed to be even more solid. Let us know how you like it when you get it installed.

Don't worry about the Stock Ford Gasket, you won't use any of the Stock Shifter Parts, except one small spongy yellow piece, that will be shown and explained in the instructions. You'll absolutely love the MGW Race Spec Shifter, it's the best!

I tore mine a bit when I installed my Barton shifter.
Wish I had a spare to install, but was able to make the old one work.

I'd recommend getting it, even if just for peace of mind, IN CASE you mess up the old gasket

Not needed. Don't wast your money on a thick silicone gasket
