Selectshift Paddle shifters

Found this:

Wonder if it would be possible to incorporate this into our cars from a Lincoln, or if anything aftermarket like this is available. I mean c'mon, my wife's KIA Optima Turbo has paddle shifters for crying out loud

So, according to the commercial, they do not offer this "exciting performance option" on ANY of their actual PERFORMANCE cars?!

Real paddle shifters like a Maserati electro-hydraulic or cutesy lame ones for automatics that are no different than walking the gear selector?

Only if they get it right. There is only one correct layout for paddle shifters. Right paddle pull shifts up, left paddle pull shifts down. There should be none of this push either paddle forward to shift up and pull either to shift down. That was an egregious mistake made on the C6 Corvettes and, it seems by that video, by Ford on many of its paddle shift cars.

"Walking the gear selector" doesn't work too well in a 6-speed Mustang when your choices are 1-2-3-D...

Also, when driving hard, it's not that easy to accurately up-shift and down-shift using the shifter. I had the 5-spd. "auto-stick" trans. in my Charger, it was Left for downshift and Right for upshift. It worked pretty well for my track days and "sporty" driving. I miss it very much in this car...

You hit the nail on the head here, I would be happier moving the shifter somehow instead of pushing the doorbell to shift.

Meh...should be pull back to upshift and forward to downshift, like on Mazdas and on race cars.

I have a 12' auto and would love to have the select shift.

The button works fine for me in my '14 convertible. I figure if you had a 6MT you would have your hand on the shifter when shifting, so what's the difference?

When driving "in anger" fine-motor control gets reduced. Mashing a paddle or smacking a lever is much easier than trying to flick a button.

Found this, but this is the only info I've been able to find. I requested a video of them being used while driving, hopefully he posts one.
