What works well in a straight line is not at all what you want on a curvy road or road course unless you want to see the rhubarb up close and personal. Again, the inverse is true. Take your road race set up to the quarter and fall flat on your face.

Obviously your call but make sure you’re thinking about the compromises and which direction you’re leaning. My personal taste is road course…I’m guessing you lean that way as well since you’ve already lowered the car which is not something you would necessarily do for a drag set up.

Thanks John. I don't drag nor do I road course. I just drive on the street… safely of course

So, if I do with Drag Radials (rear only), I know I will only get maybe 10k miles at most out of them, but with as little as I drive her anyways, I have no problem switching tires out every 3 or so years. The more that I think about it, the more I am thinking a DR setup might be best. I never drive mine in the rain either.

I think you mentioned interested in the Vossen brand. I just saw this on another site, here's the link to there Black Friday special.

http://www.vossenwheels.com/blackfriday/
Thanks for pm and for vossen info. The price you sent me was around what I was thinking. I was hoping for some major sales this Friday or Monday, but so far no luck. I'm leaning towards Niche, TSW, and AMR brand (for ultimate cheapness).

Ok... It looks like I've narrowed it down to a couple of options.

(Preferred)
TSW nurburgrings in bronze or matte gunmetal
20x8.5 front
20x10 rear
Both have a +40 offset, so should be flush with no rubbing

(Secondary choice)
AMR charcoal
20x8.5 front
20x10 rear
Not sure what offset but I'm sure it will fit flush with rubbing either

Tires for either option will be:
255 35 20 nitto nt555 fronts
305 35 20 nitto nt555r (drag radial) rear
(I don't drive in rain, or drag race or road course, so lasting 2 or 3 years, I don't mind replacing them then. But I need the MOST traction I can get, while getting somewhat decent mileage life)

I prefer the TSWs obviously, with it being the best balance of price, performance, and looks. Did you know it's the only rotary forged wheel in TSW's lineup? Best bang for buck in terms of forged wheels. But the price will hurt...
(Obviously I would also love forgestars or vossens, but they're definitely above my price range)

The charcoal AMRs are nice too, mesh style. But I am unsure of quality, etc. They also don't advertise the weight, which is not a good thing. I also definitely need to get different center caps. No way I'm sporting the cheesy AMR name on there.
The price difference between the 2 options are about 500 bucks. Choices choices... Hmmm

What do you guys think?

Also, I will be getting TPMS.

Anyone interested in stock brembo rims/tires with TPMS? Flaw free of course and never seen rain

You're welcome of course!

My recommendation to you would be to reconsider your current line of thinking. I don't drive in the rain much, if any at all, either since I have other options. And like you, see the pitfalls in doing so. I think, since you are now used to the handling and cornering performance your car now offers you, taking any of that away will lead to disappointment You would not be disappointed in a set of Michelin Pilot SS and both wet and dry traction is stupid good with them. Originally designed for Super Cars, they consistently rate number #1 in most measures of performance car tires. The down side is they’re at the top of the price range but you get what you pay for and this is especially true in tires. They should last around 30,000 miles of average driving...with all the caveats that go along with that . On a lesser known front, Hoosier also builds very good tire and would be worth your time to look into.

Regards,
John

Rotary forged wheels are only partially forged. Only the “Rim” portion is considered forged since it’s the only part that is rolled. The spokes and hub are still cast. Not a big issue, just a point of clarity.

My opinion: go with the Nurburgring’s in the matt gunmetal. I think the bronze could end up looking sort of ghetto-ish.

You should be happy with the tires you’ve chosen. I doubt you’ll be giving up handing with them. Certainly the handling will be hands and feet above the stock _____ tires on car now! Pay attention to the aspect ratio from front to rear unless you want a meatier looking sidewall in the rear verses the front. It’s not a bad look, just a little more “Old School” or drag race looking.

Regards,
John

PS: If your new wheels and tires are coming all set and balanced and you want to save a few bucks, you can always forget about the TPMS sensors if you want to. Just harvest the set out of your current wheels and put them in a pressurized can and toss it in the trunk.

I did a lot of research before I purchased mine and I agree "best bang for the buck"

Boy you didn't waste anytime putting your stockers up for sale did you LOL. I've had mine sitting in my spare bedroom since late August and still have not put them up for sale. Something inside me says keep them just in case of a major wheel, tire issue with the current setup that may take some time to fix I can throw them back on.

hey Z, i don't think there's any issues with the AMR wheels or their brand personally. I've not heard any bad things about their quality. If I hadn't been so lucky with my current rims i was considering AMR. Also, i was able to determine the weight per rim from the details on their products or by speaking to them directly.

Oh yeah man… I don't mess around… lol I wait for the right sale, then I go.

Speaking of the right sale… I forgot about a 3rd option which I'm finalizing right now… hahahaha Like I said, when I find a good deal/value, I GO.

I went with niche Milans, 20x8.5 front then 20x10 rear. 255 nt555 front, 305 nt555r DR rear. I love that machined tinted almost bronzy look.

I'm certain they clear the front brembos... Can anyone confirm that? If not, I will switch to nurburgrings. I'm pretty sure they clear tho. The pics I saw online showed a standard brake package GT, the other white car didn't have a good side view.

I'm stoked.

I like those. I was looking at the Niche website and found this on the Milans m137:

"The diverse fitments and compatibility of the Niche M137 Milan is proven from the larger fitments and big brakes of modern muscle cars like the Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang to European cars like Audi, BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz to Luxury Imports and Tuner car fitments."

It looks like they come in a 20x10.5 if you're interested. You might email them and see what they say about clearing the Brembos, just to be sure.

Yeah that's what I figured... I went to several sites and entered the "Brembo" option and it all cleared, so I'm good. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it to the sales guy too, so should be good.

Here's some pics of it on other mustangs. Haven't seen one in kona yet tho....

Oh, and you just HAD TO post a pic of these rims on a Sterling Gray Mustang, didn't you? Lol ...

I've actually seen these rims before and I really like them. Can't wait to see how they'll fit on your car, I may just end up with a set myself. I already have a local buyer for my 18" SVT's

Very nice looking wheels, good choice. I wish I could go with the DR in the back but mine is a DD rain or shine.

I just had to one up you Gabe, since you're one upping me in the blower department... ohhhhhh! Just kidding! . I had to purposely find a pic of them with sterling gray . Haha

Yeah no copying me!!!

Hey gabe, on a more serious note, can you help me find a buyer for my stock brembos? I have it posted here on this forum already. I figured with all your buddies out east, someone would want a perfect condition set of brembos .

Can other folks help me out too?

Hey Darren! Yes sir! I was able to sneak the order in last night before closing time. What'd you think of the style and sizing? I read up too and found out that the quality and workmanship of niche is UP there. That was a big factor in my decision. I forget the name of their parent company... But it was supposed to be the worlds largest rim manufacturer. And I can't get enough of those concavity. Let me find some angled shots for you guys.

On that note, as I've told Gabe, you guys are a reeeeally bad influence on me LOL. My wife doesn't want me frequenting these forums anymore since I get some DIRTY DIRTY thoughts in my head about Marilyn very time I talk to you guys... Hahahaha

Bro, thanks again for your info yesterday. Big help. But yes, I figured I go with Drag Radials out back because, hey, I never drive it in rain, plus I reeeeeeally need grip. And at 305 wide, these will be perfect. If I need to replace them every 2 years or 3 years, ok, so be it. 500 bucks or so? I'll eat it. That means I need to plan out my budget for it sooner. All about opportunity cost...

Oh also, fitting a 305 wide on a 20x10 should be no problem eh? After my research, folks have said that despite set widths, manufacturers have their tires all fitting and looking differently despite same widths. Meaning, the Nitto NT555R drag radials in 305 are the NARROWEST fitting 305s on the market. So fitting it on 20x10s with no bulge should be no problem.

Here's some angled pics. If I was 2" tall or a really small elf, I almost want to lay the rim flat on it's back side and slide down those concave spokes of sexiness... Lol

X2 .... Lmao!

I'll see what I can do for you about selling the stock rims, you may want to throw them up on eBay too, won't hurt. They take 10% right off the top though, if you list them with a set price. Then PayPal, then shipping cost.

These Niche rims totally stole Vossen's look, at less than half the price. Love that!
