Resonator Delete Size?

I know there's another post on res deletes but my question is specifically regarding what size pipe should be welded in to replace the resonator?

I think the pipe in that area is 2.75" but I've seen posts where they claim to have had 3" pipes welded in.

Does anyone know if the 3" makes for a louder, deeper, etc sound? Any downside to the 3"?

What do you guys think?

The 3" pipe accounts for the inside diameter of the replacement pipe versus the outside diameter of the stock pipe. The new sections slip over the old pipes and they are welded to them.

You need 3". You don't want to go smaller and shops will only have 2.5 or 3"

They won't be able to weld it.

Ok so 3" seems to be the consensus and it makes sense. I certainly don't want to go smaller so 3" seems right.

Now how about material? Stainless vs. aluminized steel? What will be more readily available at most shops?

Aluminized is more available and cheaper and will be fine.

Any reputable shop will be able match the pipes up whether they have 2.75 or stretch 2.5 out to match up. Aluminum will be cheaper, but SS is better quality and will last longer.

Noobish question. If the resonators are replaced by these pipes, don't we have the cat-back system now? Straight OTA pipes + Axleback = Catback??

Basically, although I've heard people say the bends over the axle are not as smooth as a true cat-back would be but I'm not sure how much difference that would make in reality
