Hi

With Flowmaster axle-backs, would resonator delete change the tone of the sound? As in deeper, more high pitched, or the same but louder?

And our cars have two resonators, right?

I would like to know if anyone has done this as well.

I have the hushpowers on my 5.0. The only person i've heard to take off the resonators was a guy that already had an o/r x-pipe and had to put the resonators back on.

I know that the resonators control drone...they are just baffled pipes, unlike the restrictive catalytic converters.

 

Keep them on. Sound like crap without them. That's a promise.

 

Okay, apparently the automatic V6 cars have resonators, are you sure that your manual car has them? I could swear that the manual V6 cars don't have them.

I know the 2011 V6 Roush exhaust sounds different on a automatic than on a manual car.

The 2011 GT's all have them but none of the 2010's did.

The resonators are going to knock down some of the high frequency sounds so if you do have them on your car then taking them off will make the sound more raspy.

 

I wanted to. Kind of my lack of funds got it the way. Maybe after I sell my 95 I might look more into it? If I don't like the sound, easy fix to put them back on. Any clips w/o them?

 

You guys all need to realize that the OP has a V6 car so you can't really say what it might sound like sans resonators and that is IF the manual V6 cars even have resonators.

Used to have a V6 (not Mustang) But any resonator delete will result in a raspier, near "fart can" sound at high RPM and WOT.

It does sound really good at idle to low RPM though. =]

 

Can someone describe a "raspy" sounding exhaust? This is the first car I've had an aftermarket exhaust on so I don't know what that means

 

Here's an idea... When they start revving it at 0:25... that vibrating-like sound. It sound good when he does drive-bys... but at about 1:25 WOT; I'm not liking it, but that's just me.

 

chutoyy nailed it..it would be raspier as hell..would sound like a pissed off weed whacker. I like some rasp but not when its just got that metallic rasp noise.

That sounds like crap (the raspy part). But that's with muffler delete.

I supposed I will just take a gamble and have my resonators removed. If I don't like it I can have it welded back on.

 

In theory, a resonator delete should make your car sound deeper and a little louder; expect some mild drone at that certain RPM.
