Hey gang...just brought home my 2010 GT Convertible two days ago (intro thread: https://themustangsource.com/f657/new-mustang-486836/)

My first "Mod" is to remove the dealer lettering off the back of the trunk (circled in red below)

I'm thinking a hair dryer, but would cry a river if I fussed up the paint...any thoughts???

Hard to tell what kind of decals you have on there but on my '04 the dealer sticker just peeled off with no muss, no fuss. I just used my thumbnail to start peeling them up and then just pulled them off.

 

Should be fine, just an adhesive badge. Fishing line or floss helps. When you're done, wipe that area down with some lighter fluid or goo gone, then follow up with a clay bar and she'll be fine.

Took my Thumbnail, and peeled it of right after I got home, then the Preferred sticker on the inside of the front window and their web site at the bottom of the rear window. ****, 3 mods in one day

 

They come off easy on a 'new' car. If you have too much trouble, all the local car parts stores sell a product called 'decal remover'. My Dad bought a bottle of it to remove a decal (bumper sticker) that had been on his car for 3 years. I works pretty good.

 

Sounds like it should be pretty easy.

The dealer I bought it from just got the car, so I can't imagine they've been on there for more than a month or so.

 

I'm in NoVa too. Should peel off pretty easily as it is new, then any goo can be taken off as others stated. I bought my GT/CS from Battlefield Ford in July. I've never had a dealer balk at just a couple requirements I have - I want the window sticker and all interior "tags" handed to me upon delivery and I do not want any dealer advertising stuck on the vehicle. They just take off any sticker that may have already been placed on the vehicle during delivery prep. Some add a license plate frame with their name, but that's a lot easier to remove than their sticker. Nice looking ride.

 

God, I hate that; it's a personal pet peeve of mine when they assume you want to advertise for them. I have a standing rule with my dealer that no decals or license frames get put on my car or that are removed before I take delivery.

I've been dealing with the same dealer for 15 years now; I explained early on that if they treat me well I'll be more than happy to advertise through word of mouth. They've gained a lot of business by keeping me happy.

 

Pry bar, screwdriver, BFH and some 80 fine grit sand paper should do the job. Then just buff it out.

Seriousy, like stated above, dental floss and lighter fluid will do miracles.

I bought my car from Ted Britt also. I just used my nail to lift a corner of each letter and slowly peeled it back. When its off there waw some adhesive left. I used wd-40 to get it off then washed it good. You can also use goo gone, lighter fluid, a good paint cleaner, etc. I just wouldn't use anything that could damage the paint. Be patient.

 

Yeah, I don't want to drive around advertising the dealer. Also...it's an all black car, so that white lettering really doesn't fit well.

Ted Britt was pretty good to deal with, but it's always a bit of a hassle when you are buying a used car, particularly with a trade-in.

 

I got lucky- my dealer had a thick foam decal they put on the day I picked it up. My wife pulled it off before we even signed the papers and without me even asking her.
It hadn't even had time for any adhesive to stick to the paint!

 

Got ours home and immediately used a hair dryer and it came off easily. Used a bit of detailer spray and the glue residue came right off. That Ted Britt decal is HUGE. Get rid of it.

I peeled mine off right in front of the sales manager.

I had not even gave him the check for it yet!

 

Try Goo Gone, won't hurt paint, works fast and easy.

 

That's pretty funny....maybe you could of asked if he wanted the letters back!

 

Same here. My wife peeled it off and handed it to the commercial sales manager for recycling. Haha

 

I noticed mine was put on before they detailed it or removed any plastic from the car. Found that kind of strange that the first thing they did was put a sticker on the car. Thank god they didn't do the same with the front plate. I had the option for that.
