Redliners Tune Review ('14 V6)
Redliners Tune Review ('14 V6)
Just got a couple tunes from Redliners, posting up my initial thoughts after some drive time with each. I'll update this thread more in a week or two, as I'm currently back with stock tune while I get a possible warranty issue looked at, so I've only had a day or two with each tune.
The tunes I got are "race" 93 octane, and "performance" 93 octane. I've had a Steeda tune for about 7 months before this (also 93 octane). My car is a stock (engine-wise) 2014 V6 with manual gearbox.
Performance tune: The perf tune felt a lot like the Steeda tune. Better throttle response, possibly a few extra horses up top (hard to tell for sure), and the lower end of the RPM range was much more usable (probably due to throttle changes). I think the Redliners tune offered a bit more throttle response compared to the Steeda, but they're pretty close. Great daily driving tune that is easy to drive.
Race tune: Race tune is a HUGE difference, primarily regarding throttle response. Throttle becomes very touchy, but there is a TON of power available down low. I have my winter tires on now, and when I first tried the perf tune we were getting a bit of snow. Roads weren't too bad, but I still had trouble keeping the tires from spinning with anything but the lightest throttle inputs. I'm not saying this as a bad thing, it's actually quite enjoyable...just not the easiest to use on the street (especially during winter). Once summer hits and I have summer tires again I'll put the race tune back on and really put it through the paces. I've had some issues getting my car to launch with the stock & Steeda tunes (without revving the **** of out it), I think this race tune will get me off the line a lot better.
All in all I'm very happy with the tunes. Matt has always been quick to respond to emails and was able to fine tune the tune files after I sent some datalogs his way. I've had the tunes for a couple days now and have experienced no issues with the tunes.
I'll update this in the future when I have more to say.
