rear trunk panel removal

I have a 2013 GT and I want to paint stripes on it. The rear trunk panel where the faux gas cap is was designed not to accept paint. PPG has given me directions on how to paint the stripes on it but I can't figure out how to get it off......I see the two screws and have removed them and can see plastic clips up under the panel but don't want to force them.....any help??????

You're going to paint stripes directly onto the clear coat then what, clear coat it again? Most stripes are vinyl and don't go over/under the back panel.

I didn't use vinyl in the Texas heat, I painted. Most of the additional items on the car will have clips and double sided tape. Just ensure the screws or clips are free and then gently pull all around until it frees up.

I understand Shelby and their look alikes leave the panel black. I think it looks better painted. I don't like decals because they bubble and turn color with age. I have mine painted and clear coated over but the paint is coming off the back panel. PPG says yes they know about the problem, So does Ford but Ford's solution is to leave it black like they intended.
I did try the gentle pressure as suggested but something is holding. Does it slip left or right or down out of the clips??????

I swapped the cdc blackout panel on mine wrote a install guide for it. Anyways man after you remove the screws grab one edge of the panel and firmly pull towards your body and away from the car the panel will pop out iirc there are 12 total pop in connectors that hold it on the back as well as the 2 torq screws.
