Real world mpg stock
My wife's truck gets about 13 mpg, so I'm thinking about getting her a certified pre owned 2012 v6 convertible to run around with as a daily driver. This is entirely dependent on getting solid mileage. What is your real world experience with this car Mileage wise?

I average between 23-24 overall with like 60% highway driving and some foolish behavior between lights. On the highway I always average above 30. The 2:73 rear is essential tho if you want to break 30 on the highway. Honestly I've been pleasantly surprised by the mileage

What about the Fusion? My wife just bought the 3.5L and is getting about 26mpg. It has dual exhaust, roomy, affordable, and lots of pep.
Good luck whatever you choose!
I average 23 in my 2011 v6 mustang coupe.

Drove an escape a couple of days ago as well as an edge. Because of our business we needed to have something that we can carry equipment including 6 ft heavy bags, so its keep the truck an get something for a daily driver that gets good mpg or get something large enough to do the job but still get an average of mid 20s.
The escape has a roof rack which should hold a bag. The edge is big enough and seems to get Good mileage. The cpo mustang is just a shot at getting her something fun and keeping the truck. We certainly don't have to make a decision any time soon.

She loves the look of the 2013 fusion and the hybrid gets 45mpg. We are wondering if the rear seat folds enough to get a bag in there. 45mpg......****. ultimate she will decide what she wants.

I was thrilled about the fusion because of the comfort factor for our 5 year old daughter. Our little one loves the quiet and smooth ride, comfort and flip down cup console in the back seat. She never kicks the backseat of the fusion. Lol
Not sure if you have children but the Mustang was a poor choice on my part being a family man. The backseats are so cramped that we seldom take the mustangs out as a family.

I've been averaging 23 on my daily commute which is 60% highway with 3.31s. However I will caveat that with the fact that it's during Houston rush hour which means a pretty fair amount of stop and go. The one time I got to spend some significant steady highway travel @ 70-75mph, I topped out at around 27.

Our 2013 Escape with the small EcoBoost is getting a solid 23 combined. Best I've seen it on the highway was right at 27. 3,000 mile road trip coming at Thanksgiving, so that'll be a good test. Nice vehicle, but some irritating electronic problems.

My 2012 base v6 with auto and 2.73 gear will get 30 easy on the freeway, around town its down to 20 or so. Overall mileage has been around 24 with a mix of highway and city driving. Been really pleased with these results. The highest ever gotten on the freeway and side roads has been 33.

I can get 25 if I keep my speed at ~65, the RPMs stay at 1900-2100. If I'm driving closer to 75-80, which is what I normally drive on the highway, it's closer to 23.

Coupled with some "fun" on backroads and empty streets along with more...civilized driving i avg 22-25mpg. On the highway i avg 30+, including flat out on-ramp pulls to merge with teaffic. The new motor has plenty power to assert itself on the highway and still gets great mileage. My lowest tank was 300 miles while my highesr was 380-400 miles. (much more granny driving).

One of these days I'm gonna give the MPG game a run. I did this a coupla times in my old GT to really good effect posting an increase of 8-9 MPG just by altering my driving habits like staying at or below 65, reducing pumping losses and keeping that mileage meter at 5 bars for as much as possible.
For me at least it was certainly an exercise in discipline as I normally like to get up to speed fairly quickly and typically do 5 over most roads and on particular stretches of highway I'll do 75-80.

Yeah that seems right, over 65 and my mileage starts to take a nosedive, I'm also a chronic windows down person in the summer time which hurts as well when your going over 45 MPH.

adding a second car will ALWAYS be more expensive that having one car/truck that gets 13 mpg.
even if the additional car gets 100 mpg, you'll never even come close to recouping the cost of the car, insurance, registration, maintenace, etc..

Are you talking in your '09 gt500 or do you also have an 11+ v6? But yea, I've tried the hypermiling thing a few times, and when I have my normal routine, which is about 85% highway, I can get 27mpg on a good day when I leave before rush hour. But imo, it just isn't worth it. I basically have to keep it between 60-65, coast as much as possible, and keep the rpms at 1800. Drives me crazy doing it for more than 10 minutes, and it isn't why I bought this car.
Yeah GT500, I can't remember my best mileage when it was stock though, with the tune and OD pulley I'm getting a hair over 25 mpg highway with conservative driving habits on average.
