Radioactive 'Stangs???

So, with our world slowly creeping towards the impending doom of the apocolypse, and nuclear reactors melting down at a rapid pace, what's the word (if any) on the effect on Ford's product line? Has anyone heard of any impact on the delivery of the 2012's due to the mess in Japan? I realize they are mostly built in Mexico and the U.S., but I'm wondering if the electronics or any other systems required to finish the build might be shipped from there.

If we all start glowing next week, at least I can rest in peace knowing I jumped on a 2011 instead of painfully waiting on the 2012, and got to rip off a few thousand delicious miles

The news tonight reported that Toyota plants in the US were already seeing issues with supply (Prius tranny). I also think it was GM who was closing a truck plant due to shortages of Japan parts and that all major US automotive builders rely on components from Japan. So my guess is that this will have a huge impact on many items, not just cars included.

I wouldn't be surprised at a delay. Japan manufactures >40% of the world's NAND flash memory, and >15% DRAM. I'm sure whatever computers are in the car rely heavily on these components. Hopefully Ford had enough stock that we don't see a delay. Who knows though.

Yea I actually ordered the iPad 2, the stupid thing is they shipped the cover that comes with it even though they don't have the iPad yet. Not that it matters since they wouldn't ship out here to Iraq anyways.

My old lady works for a Japanesse Teir 1 Automotive supplier and let me tell you things are crazy right now.

She and her team are just trying to get information and find out what the impact on her stuff even is! Its very hard to get information right now (not impossible) and to be honest many Japanesse have more pressing issues then "hows the plant? When can we restart" Its more like, "Is my family alive? where do I sleep, where can i find food?" Its going to be a slow process.

She does have 1 componenton Mustang but its made in at one of their plants in MI not in Japan so there is no impact on Mustang.

My moms work had ha huge meeting in Hong Kong.. Maylasia and Thailand... they just cancelled it because all of the agents in that area cant make it... Her boss used to work in Japan... talked to some people there and they said the Japenese govt. is palaying the severity of the event down they aren't letting on to how serious it actually is... If you remember Japenese Culture...not too wanting to show panic....But the American Embassy is evacuating any American who wants out.. They brought over planes just to do that

The only power source capable of generating 1.21 gigawatts of electricity is a bolt of lightning.
