OK.. so maybe I'm the idiot (which wouldn't surprise me). I've noticed my radio shows the word TEXT near the bluetooth icon even when the radio is off.. I've read through what little usefull knowledge of an owners manual there is, but I couldn't find anything..

Has anyone noticed that and have any idea what it means ?

Again.. I may have very easily overlooked it, but I've gone through the manual a few times...

I wondered this, too. Pretty sure it says this when I am listening to the radio? I don't use it much, so not for sure. I'd like to know of this.

 

It gives artist/song/station info. I use it a lot with Sirius.

 

I understand the button but I'm talking about the word TEXT light up on the display even when the radio is off.

 

Oh my bad. Not sure then. Mine only shows on the display when I hit the button. Not there on mine when the radios off.

 

I just took my nephew out to see my car, he's fixing to be 3. While there, I fired her up for him. I turned on radio hoping I would see 'text', I didn't. I'm fixing to run my errands, I'll try & rem to look & stuff.

 

I have noticed it. On mine, it seems to come on when I turn on the FM radio, but then it never goes out even if I switch to a different input. At first I thought it was the text message indicator for the cell phone...

 

OK.. so I left work.. started the car ... TEXT appeared.. shut off radio.. TEXT still displayed.. So My co-worker in a Challenger was behind me. so I let it loose on the turn and again in 2nd.. He sent me a txt.. I replied back.. and noticed the TEXT was gonna... I have an iPhone w/ Vlingo talk to txt & e mail.. Then I noticed it was gone.. I received several txt after that, but TEXT never showed back... Got me..

 

I had 4 lil cousins text me when I was driving mine. Never showed up on my radio. I listened to FM & Sirius, didn't think to pop in a CD. I know I've seen that, I believe when on FM? I asked my Ford selling cousin if my iPhone 4 would read my texts. He said it wouldn't. I don't have any extras added to my phone. Let me rephrase, I don't know of any to add. He said it won't work, so I haven't tried. See ya!

As you can see I was listening to Sirius. Didn't receive any new texts. It stayed on til I parked it. It was Nirvana day on Lithium, prob rode around a good 45-60 minutes? I hit the text button, nothing different again. Beats me. I pulled up my owner's manual app, didn't see this.

For the record, 1 of my favorite Nirvana songs.

 

Good.. I'm not crazy, and no one knows about it.. maybe it's a feature....LMAO..
Now you'll never be able to get it off ....

 

Oh, it'll go off. I have no idea when, why, or how; it just goes off same way it lit up!

 

Hi, everyone!

I wasn't familiar with this, so I had to do some research. If you a have phone that is compatible with the text messaging feature, you'd see a small envelope in the corner of your radio display when you receive a new message.

Did any of you happen to have an MP3 device connected when you saw TEXT? It appears this is a feature to obtain metadata, such as artist, track, album, & genre.

By George I think she's got it.

My iPhone connects via Bluetooth and I've noticed at times it shows the iPod playing on it.

Ever now and then I stop that from playing. I'll have to pay more attention to it.

I've never hooked up an IPod to mine. Doubt I ever will. All I know is when I last drove it, 45 minutes ago, it was off. Since I have no idea why it came on, who knows why it went off?

What you typed didn't mean anything to me. I've never seen a envelope, just the 'TEXT'. Thanks!!

It definitely took some research. We live in a world obsessed with text messaging, so like the others I thought that's what it meant.

Check it out next time you use your iPod and let me know what you find!

The iPhone does not currently support the SYNC text messaging feature.

Do you have a hard button on your radio that says TEXT?

When I leave work today.. I'm gonna make sure music is playing from my phone and see what the display is..

 

Mine shows "text" only when i connect my i-pod.

 

I connected via Bluetooth. No TEXT display.

 

Yes, I connect it through Bluetooth. I have no idea what you mean by playing music through my phone? I don't ever really use my Sync.

I know my phone doesn't read my texts. It does have the TEXT button. I've pressed it, did nothing. What do I do with that button? Thanks!!
