Or, just tell us when and where.

right, but we both know you guys have the troopers blocking because they can 'talk' their way out of any tickets/problems if your operation gets caught.

its abuse of their power as officers if you ask me

wow I guess professionalism and ethics go out the window when they are off-duty. Wonder how they sleep at night knowing what they do IT TOTALLY WRONG.

Nevada has a couple of races that are held twice a year each. they are both held on state highways. you race what you bring and try to hold the speed average for your class (95mph,100,120,etc). I'd love to do one.

i think most state troopers abuse their power. in cali, a CHP took off his cats and his neighbor blew the whistle since the CHP said he could get away with it by showing his badge. massive lawsuit against the state when other CHP would pull the neighbor over and basically harassed the day lights out of him.

what cars are they using when blocking the roads? if you're too old to drive a stick then you're too old to street race.

So, where is this, city/state, where off duty state troopers participate in this activity?

I would bet their captain would be VERY INTERESTED in hearing about this...

Also, street racing talk is frowned on here, I do believe.

Here in AZ the PHX police will let a MODERATE amount of burnout/revving activity at a couple local car shows, but if it ever gets out of hand or too late at night they'll pull you over. As far as off duty troopers blocking cars for racing, I'm not buying it. But if it is true, yikes!

It doesn't matter if they're off duty cops. What matters is the decision making process of what's smart vs. dumb, legal vs. illegal, and safe vs. unsafe. It also doesn't matter if your off duty cop friends check the road is clear ahead, because we all know nobody has ever lost control of their car on a clear and open road... You got an automatic because you don't want the hassle and inconvenience of driving a manual in traffic. But I hope you know there are consequences to racing on public roads that can also be considered an inconvenience.

Retired cop here. I think this is BS, but in any event, if they are blocking traffic off duty, I assume they are doing it with their take-home patrol cars? In that case, it certainly does involve tax dollars.

Very few cops would risk their careers, pensions, and jail time for this activity, and in all my years, I never heard of anything like this. I've known a few that would street race occasionally, but never using off-duty officers as you describe.

I've known of several jurisdictions over the years where all the cops have lost their take-home car privileges because of abuses by a few officers. If I had ever heard rumors of any of my men doing something as egregious as this, it would have been investigated thoroughly, and in addition to loss of jobs, jail time would have been pursued.

Just like on the 2010, the 2011, has the option to put it into gears 1, 2 or 3. So you just down shift accordingly and upshift at the proper point once you hit drive.

Honestly tho, they make a track dedicated to this type of run, find one. Old people palling around with 17 year olds in a civic and an occasional m3, or AMG or something... ouuuuu fancy.

Street racing to 150 is retarded. You'd think if you were grown you'd know better. The fact that state troopers do it as well makes we wanna vom.
