Racing from a roll with a 2011 GT automatic

Hi I am still waiting for my 2011 GT to come in, it is scheduled to be built next week.

The GT is going to be my first sports car with an automatic trans, I am getting old and have a commute with lots of traffic.

When I do my highway runs with other cars, we usually drop it second hold 40mph, three beeps of the horn and we both punch it. We used to run from 40-155 or so when I had my z06. I guess I will need a tuner to remove the 146mph limiter in the 2011.

Any thoughts on top speed unlimited?

How can I do this with the auto in GT? Does the auto selector have a position for second gear? Or does first go above 40mph?

Sorry for all the questions but I have only test driven the 6mt 2011 GT.

Street racing is illegal. Take it to the track.

People always say that, but what we do is usually on a mostly closed road. Two of the guys are state troopers and they block the traffic from behind and one scouts out the road for debris two miles ahead.

LOL, similar but this is a rolling roadblock. They just block both lanes with all of us in front of them.

I wonder how many people will actually take their new 400hp Mustang to the track?

I call BS. If they are state troopers, they're off-duty, right? And it doesn't matter anyway. They shouldn't be state troopers if they are participating in street racing.

You're too cheap to pay to go to a track? Wait until someone gets killed. $20 will seem really inexpensive, unless you're too stupid to get it even then.

They are part of the car crew and they are off duty in the vettes when this takes place on Sundays. We call it "the fun run" over 50 cars usually.

OK....I just read the most recent post that claims that the troopers block behind the racers. Pure BS, go somewhere where you think people who read that would be stupid enough to believe that.

Or..................prove it.

Pure BS.

Thanks for the explanation but I'm still confused lol. So if you're an off duty trooper you can just go around shutting down roads whenever you want??

What they do is no different then when two slow drivers block the road on a two lane highway. And it is not for long only long enough for us to get set and take off.

Woooow! Now it all makes sense. Thanks again for explaining.

That is just plain wrong IMO. I'm glad to see our tax dollars are being put to good use

Nothing to do with tax dollors they are off duty. On the runs that they do not come on, two of us just do the blocking for the others.
