Red Candy is a lot more impressive in person, imo

Race Red is too light.. it almost looks like oxidized paint when I've seen it

I'd drive either of those cars! I'd pick the 1st 1, candy is my pick. Both are great!

I did the same comparison before ordering. I found Red Candy to be a deeper, richer color so that's the way I went. I can't believe all the comments and looks my car gets.

Another vote for candy... although it will cost you an extra $400.

Red Candy looks incredible in the sunlight; it really pops. However, under an overcast sky, it appears maroon. Race Red looks awesome, and that's what I chose, but you really cannot go wrong. They are both great colors.

I bought used so I was buying the best deal and candy was the best deal. sooooo many compliments on the color and it is close to the color of my first mustang my 85 gt. if I was buying new and was going a red it would be the way to go.

I was close to buying race red before I saw one in person but after parking a race red and candy red side by side at the dealership's lot, I went with candy.

Each has their advantages and disadvantages though.

The race red no matter what the lighting conditions is bright and eye grabbing

The candy red is a darker red depending on the light but if it's in direct sunlight, there is a lot more depth to the color and the metallic flake in the paint really brings the lines in the car to life as long as the paint is clean. The best description that myself and numerous others who have seen it in person have said is that the color really pops.

But it needs to be fairly clean and nice sunlight to look it's best.

The other drawback to candy is that it has an extra cost to get it but I thought it was worth it.

So the candy red doesn't have the "look at me!" factor that the race red has but when the light is right, it's a richer and deeper color.

Another benefit I think that candy red has is that it doesn't show dirt as much as race red does. A girl at our office just got a race red mustang and I've noticed that it shows dirt quite a bit more than mine. Mine can be filthy (staring across a layer of dirt across the hood) and when I get out, I can't see it. It doesn't shine as much but it still looks relatively clean.

Anyways, this is mine getting nailed with direct sun after very low grit polishing and waxing untouched/no editing in photoshop or anything.

And for comparisons sake (taken with my cheap point and shoot camera instead of my T2i) on a cloudy day not cleaned.

It's not really an accurate comparison but the lack of color pop is pretty well represented.

I knew it was between the two reds. I liked both but my wife liked the candy so we ended up with that. I got to pick out everything else. I am glad we ended up with the candy even though it was an option. I might have used the extra money to do mods sooner.

I think you made the right choice. Both of them are very nice, but the candy red is just a bit more eloquent in my opinion. On a day basis, the candy is much nicer to look at.
