Questions on buying/ordering my first car.

Over the summer I plan on purchasing a 2012 5.0. I am not sure whether or not I should order through a dealer. I am having a hard time finding a Grabber blue within a 100 miles of my house. I can always settle with Ebony w/t Grabber blue strips ONLY if I can find Grabber stripes.

Questions.
How do I order?
What are the upfront cost? (My down payment will be done by me selling my current mustang, as well as 4-5k cash extra. I plan on putting down 17-18k on the mustang).
Would it be better financially if I just went to a local dealer and bought an ebony 5.0?(Will have X-Plan pin, even though dealers may sell at invoice)
Where can I find Grabber blue strips?

Can I get a 5.0 with 402A fog lights without ordering a 402A package(as well as 402A rims)?

Just walk in and order it, only usually need a $500 deposit and let them know it'll be x-plan.. takes about 8-10 weeks to get it and you'll have exactly what you want

You should not just walk in and order. Even with Xplan, I still like to email several dealers first.

i think you can order the fog lamps and have it deal installed i am not sure about the wheels i think they would need to be purchased separate too but i did not look into that.. Email is a great way to find out what the dealer has and how informed they are about your car you want to order. Though with the X plan price and no trade in price is pretty much cut and dry right down to the Doc. fee they can charge you. Also dont forget to request a broc. from the ford website to try and get a coupon for a xtra amt off . i got lucky and got a 750$ coupon from ford toward a new 2011 mustang
and when you do order plan on it being close to 10 weeks or more so if it shows up before that its all good waiting was the worse for me and mine only took 2 months to get Have fun shopping too and dont forget to test drive test drive test drive !!

Sure, some guys have played some dealerships against each other even with X-Plan. One of the dealerships decided to lower one of its fees. Theoretically, you could possibly save a few hundred dollars. Up to you to decide whether that money is worth the time and effort.

If I trust the dealership and have worked with them before, that is one thing, but there are numerous ways that dealerships can mess things up, even with an xplan. No. Trusting a dealership to know what you want and be honest is important. Emailing and calling around a little might not be the best way to find an honest dealer, but it is far better than just walking in. Oh, and one of the things I found out when emailing and calling was that tax rates were different at the dealerships. The one I ordered at is on a county island, and even with xplan pricing being the same, it will save me hundreds of dollars on the car. Take chances if you want, but I like to do some homework before commiting to buy. Also by emailing around, you can get a better deposit.

I agree. I emailed a number of dealerships & then negotiated with the ones that got back to me. Doing this allowed me to see which were upfront & which just wanted me to "come in so we can talk". It also helped me to get a great deal price wise. Invoice on my car was $34,783.00 & I was able to get the car with title, registration, doc fees, etc. for a sale price of $34,900.00, plus my states sales tax. The dealership also included oil changes & state inspection for the life of the car. If money is no option for you do what you like, if not shop around.

Of course you should shop around but if not trading in a car and using xplan than it can't be more cut and dry, you would have to have a really crooked dealer to screw that up..
