Questions on 2011 GT premium

I’m in the market for a 2011-2014 5.0 and I was curious about any known issues with these specific years of this model.

Air Conditioning blend door actuators. If I remember correctly there are 4 of them behind the dash. Some can be changed without a dash pull. Others not so much. So check all AC blow modes. You'll know a bad when you hear the clicking.

MT-82 6 speed, airbag recall. I bought a new 2011 GT Premium A6 and it was a great car with no major issues.

Our '13 GT 5.0L A6 with 39K miles has been trouble free. Do your due diligence, and if possible make sure the car has been well maintained. You should be good to go if so. Good luck on your search.

And as stated, these cars are on recall for the front air bags. The drivers side bags are in, and can be replaced. The passenger side are not available at this time, and no one seems to know when they will.

Welcome to the forum.

One other thing, in 2013 Ford removed the oil squirters, changed the coating on pistons, and added hood vents. I think there was a change in piston ring placement too. This coincided with numerous #8 cylinder failures on tuned GTs.

This was early on in the 2011s. And there were some tuning issues at first, but the front facia of the 13+ cars allows more air flow and more cooling in case you plan to track the car.

But ironically, I have never heard of an 11-12 car overheating on track, while it seems to be quite common on the 13-14 cars. Have you heard of it on 11-12 cars?

Yup.

Page 15. SGwick has had some overheat issues last year and he's a 11' GT.

Also post # 309.

Not to mention many others if you search the interwebs.

I have not heard of many 13-14 GTs overheating.

Oh yeah, I remember that now, but for some reason I was thinking he was a 13-14. All of the overheating issues that I have seen at the track days/nights that I go to have been 13-14's. I haven't seen any 11-12's but that's probably just coincidence. Luckily my 2010 doesn't seem to have that problem, or maybe I am just blissfully ignorant because I do not have an oil temp gage.

Sorry for the small tangent, back to topic . . .

There are four if you have dual zone climate control, but only two if not.
