A question for Tune providers
A question for Tune providers
When doing tunes for 2011 V6 owners, if you remove or greatly raise the top speed limiter in the tune, do you inquire as to whether the customer has changed their tires to something rated for the higher top speed?
The standard issue tires on the standard V6 Mustang is "T" rated for 118 mph and after removing or raising the speed limiter the V6 cars should be able to easily go above 150 mph.
This seems to me to be a great liability issue, just wondered if any tuners are considering or addressing this?
I was thinking about this because of a question about removing the speed limiter on the V6 cars came up on another forum and one tuner said they set their speed limiter in the tune to 255 mph.

IIRC, they tend to absolve themselves of liability though this may or may not hold up in court.
Honestly, the whole point of changing a tune is to go faster which is already dangerous and illegal on the street...so I doubt they worry....

I was actually more worried for the guys with these cars who don't know any better or don't understand the potential danger.
If the tuners choose to ignore any possible liability then that's up to them.

i had a tuner on my F150 and once you removed the speed limiter you also had to agree to a disclaimer and it stated that you ensured you had the right equipment on you vehicle to include tires for the speed you set as you top speed........not sure of exact wording but it was close to that

I will look closer next time i change tunes. I think it (the disclaimer) pretty much clears the tune maker of anything bad that could happen

I have to add: 'All' Tunes have the disclaimer you have to accept before the Tune will download. I've watched youtube video's on 'how to download a tune'. One of the steps is to 'accept' the disclaimer on every video i have watched.
