Question about NON-electronics package, iPod, and Shaker Pro
Looking to order a GT Premium without the electronics package, but with Shaker Pro and I had a couple questions about it since I forgot to check this when I was at the dealer last week.
1) I know there is a USB port for an iPod in the center console. Does the iPod charge/stay charged while driving when plugged into that?
2) Can I control the iPod through the head unit/steering wheel controls as far as choosing playlists/artists/songs, and can I see the artist/song title on the little display in the center stack?
I like to just load everything onto an iPod classic, throw it in the console, and forget about it.
Thanks,

yes it does charge as long as your ignition is running.

you can control typical functions from the steering controls. info display works to show the playlist artist n songs.. also u can use sync to control.. ask for playlist/ play a particular song.. n all... i wouldnt say sync is as good as siri. but it works.

There is also a 2nd USB port on the Sync module behind the glove box that you can run an extension USB cord into. That way you can use the console USB for your phone or other device.

The USB port is live with the ignition off. If I plug my phone into that port the charge light remains on after I turn off the ignition.
I use the secondary USB port with a thumb drive plugged into it and have enough music on that drive to go back and forth across country three times without listening to the same track twice. I have the cable from the secondary port draped into the glove box with a double female USB coupler plugged into it and the thumb drive plugged into the coupler.
