Question on 2014 Mustang

I dont completely understand what Ford is doing. The 1984 Mustang was the 20 anniversary Mustang and the 1994 was the 30th anniversary mustang and the 2004 was the 40th anniversary mustang so shouldnt the 2014 Mustang be the 50th anniversary mustang. But, what i keep hearing is that the 2014 model will be minor tweaks on the '13 and the 2015 model will be the 50th anniversary car...can some tell me if im making a mistake with some facts or whats going on...THANKS

I think you have it right. The problem that Ford created for itself is due to the model year creep. 2010s came out in May of 2009, 2011s started hitting the roads in March of 2010, etc.
So they're a year ahead now.

Just my guess.

April 17, 1964 was when the 1965 Mustang went on sale. I would expect something similar for the 2015.

I am guessing they will bridge the gap on model years and offer some 2015s as a 2014 1/2 special edition especially since all 64 1/2s were technically 65s

Plus, 2015 is supposed to be the radical change I keep reading about. Supposidly, Ford is steering away from the retro look like they've been doing with the recent models, and going with a split rear axle for better handling.

My bet is because of all this vast change in the Mustang for 2015, they wanted to also use it for the 50th anniversary hoopla.

the '90 was the 25th anniversary.. (which also included any '89 made after 4/17/89)
