It looks like AAI may be having a couple of weeks of unscheduled down time coming up soon.

And they're saying that production has been slowing down since they went to one shift. Wow, I wonder how many 2011s are going to end up being built, seems like it'll be an unusually small amount of production for a model year.

Anyone know if this also affects shipping???

My car's scheduled to be built sometime the week of 15-22, so shipping time will be right around when they are talking (the weeks following Thanksgiving).

2011 Mustang production is pacing for about 75K. A normal year would be about 105K lately (with the really short 2009 model year being a big exception).

Sounds like 30K fewer Mustangs would hurt Ford financially, but they are only giving away $1K in public rebates versus the typical $2K to $3K in rebates in prior years, so they're selling fewer Mustangs but making a couple grand more on those they do sell.

Almost sounds like they've gone to Ferrari's business model: make one fewer than demand.

Maybe, though hopefully this model year was just cut short for timing to pull the release schedule back a couple months, and 2012 will be back to normal.

this is good news for me, the longer it takes for it to come the better, the less i'll have to look at it instead of drive it lol

Ford CS gave a dealer ETA of Nov 16-23 so this was a pleasant surprise! Woohoo!

Here's a tidbit on production. This info is still rumour, and could change at any time. Looks like the possible down weeks won't be materializing after all.

Management told us today that the proposed down week in Dec. isn't happening. They also said in March we'd be on 10 hrs with a couple of Saturdays per month. We are supposed to start building the Boss 302 Mustang and they say there are a lot of pre orders. I don't if we will keep that production pace for more than 3 months. It will probably be business as usual....run the hell out of the line, get the cars to the dealerships, stockpile the cars, then have down weeks when the sales drop off. With gas and food prices rising as fast as they are, I don't think we'll be selling as many cars as they think next spring, but hopefully I'm wrong.
