Premium Gas Prices, Higher?

Typically mid grade (89) was about 10 cents more per gallon over regular while premium (93) was 30 cents more per gallon than regular. I noticed that mid grade is now 20 cents over regular and premium is 40 cents over regular.

Anyone noticed this up tick price? The only reason I noticed is because I switched over to 87 octane for the winter. What gives?

I noticed when gas prices were up there around $4/gallon, that 93 was only about 20 cents more than 87 in my area.

Now that 87 is down closer to $2/gallon, the 93 is about 60-70 cents more per gallon -- huge difference as a percentage.

I think it is because the prices get "compressed" when the price goes way up; they don't need to charge as much more for the premium and they can't get as much more.

The 93oct is starting to **** me off. 2 years ago it was .20 cents more than 87oct. Last year the difference was .30 cents and now its anywhere from .40 -.70 cents higher. Its just another way for them to pull money out of our pockets.

I noticed this some time back. Think it started a few years back when prices started falling back down from the first crazy highs...

Let us go with the .60 per more per gallon, 52 fillups per year (one a week), and let's go with a 13.5 gallon fill on the 15 gallon tank, 'cause remnants in the tank.

.60 x 13.5 x 52 = $421 per year.

Now, seeing how at $2 per gallon (for argument sake) for regular this same 52 fills is $1404 per year, premium will be $1825 for the year. $27 vs $35 per fill.

Compared to the old days of nearly $4 per gallon, I'll take it, really.

Then again, how much more per set of tires are we all paying over a regular passenger car... and getting less mileage out of them... because of our big wheels and handling issues?

Unfortunate part of owning our higher strung vehicles is the extras that'll get ya.

---

That being said, as long as we buy the stuff at that price, they have no incentive to back it off, no matter what rationale you might come up with for why they're doing it (volume cheap stuff, less volume for premium / being greedy jerks overall / whatever the reason du jour).

/I, for one, am awaiting the day of the Gasoline Turbine/Electric Drivetrain (GTED) Mustang.

If you have a costco near you, hit them up! I have a costco near me and 91 is 12 cents more than 87.

at any typical gas pump, 91 is 18 cents or more than 87.

I only buy 91 at Costco, otherwise, i'll be filling up with 87.

I have seen this creep up, too. Some stations here are now 53 cents per gallon but most are 50 cents for now. It does aggravate me, too, but they are now calling it a "specialty" gas.

Now, what I want to know is now that Windows 10 is out, why is my Windows 7 acting up so much? Could it be one of my "updates" has put bugs into 7 so I will want to upgrade? The government is too stupid to do anything about it because they do not know anything about computer coding. It really is big business against the consumer and the government is paid off by big business so they turn a blind eye while lining their own pockets.

Good god man...

And upgrade to Windows 10. It's awesome, it's free, and way better than 7

I'm okay with paying $5-7 per tank for premium. $10+ and I start to scratch my head and ask myself if it's worth it.

In wisconsin i am paying .70 per gallon more for premium. Our state gas tax is almost as much as the federal tax, so there is that as well. At this point as long as i keep getting 350 miles per tank i am happy.

Wow. A fill up will be over 3 grand!

Remind me to not visit Florida that's just highway robbery there for gas.

Oh, right, implied decimal. Still, 300 bucks isn't anything to be ok with....

Ow!... fine, I'll just shuffle off now...

---

I was at the WallyWorl gas pump putting some gas in the borrowed car I had, and I put in some nice $1.79 87 gas in it.

Then I noticed that mid grade 89 was $2.19 per... 40 cents.

And 93 was $2.57. 38 more than mid, 78 more from regular.

Dude. That's... well, I know I did the numbers above, but 24 bucks vs 33 bucks is still nothing to be real cool with...

So. Where do we get our pitchforks, and when and where are we marching?
