Possible AdvanceTrac issue - Thoughts??

Hi folks,

Last night I took my lady out on the town (oh yeah, my fiance went too ).

We ended up at the local mall, spent a couple of hours wading thru teenagers and looking at stuff we don't need. We came out, got in the car and headed out of the parking lot. She had been parked flat, the parking lot entrance was flat, weather was beautiful, still about 65°, dry, nothing on the road.

As we headed out at about 20 mph, the AdvanceTrac light (car with the squiggly lines) flashed for about 5 seconds and the car shuddered. It reminded me exactly of riding my mountain bike and trying to shift gears while peddling up a hill....stuttering, shaking, etc. I hit the AdvanceTrac button several times to no effect. I stopped the car, turned it off....turned it back on and drove the hour or so home with no more problems.

Anyone had this issues? Advice? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Oh, my ride is a 2012 V6, bone stock, JUST turned over 20,000 miles on the trip yesterday.

This issue has been reported by a few members. I don't remember what caused it though, so try a search and see if you can find the other threads!

I've had it happen a few times with no rhyme or reason too.

Here is a thread that has been running a few years or more on the issue;
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...-recorder.html

I had something similar happen on my '12 once about a year or so ago.
Pulled out after a R/H stop, Advancetrac light flashed, R/H side brakes engaged on & off until about 40 mph, then everything went back to normal.
Never was able to duplicate it & has not happened since. Won't store any codes from what I read on it.
The only fix I saw was when the ABS brake module was replaced.

Mine did that same thing on a wet day with about 600 miles on it. Thought I blew a tire cause it was applying the right hand brakes of the car and almost pulled me off the road, even though I was only doing 25ish, after leaving a gas station. Pulled over, shut the car off, and checked everything over. Everything was obviously fine, and started it up and drove home with no issues again. Car has 6600 miles on it now.

Hi guys,

I still recommend you bring your vehicles in to your dealers and have them checked out. Speak to your service manager, as he is in the best position to look into this for you and can check into any warranty, assistance, recalls, or customer satisfaction programs that may apply to your vehicle.

Also, remember repairs done at a Ford Dealer come with a 24 months/unlimited miles warranty. You can schedule an appointment online here.

Just had this happen to my Boss 302 a couple of days ago... It's almost exactly how OP explained it. I took a right hander and was going around 20mph and boom, no power while advancetrac light blinked.

Had an appointment with dealer today to check the car out, but was told they were too busy and wouldn't get to it... I'll try to reschedule and let you guys know if they find anything.

I've posted this issue on other mustang forums, and people have suggested that the problem may be ABS sensor related. I'll check the sensors and cleanup the connectors tomorrow.

I'll have to agree with this. I've seen this happen and few times and never come back but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've had the same issue 3 different times, once on the highway. It's violent and outright dangerous. Ford won't do anything because they can't recreate the problem.

Basically the brakes lock up, you can disable traction control and it resolves the issue

I don't have this issue anymore because I always turn off the AdvancTrac.

My 14 GT had an incident of this behavior yesterday. Clean dry road, moderate to heavy acceleration, power dropped, and brakes got weird. Pulled over, and it disappeared. The yellow AdvanceTrac icon was on during the episode. Appointment with Priority Ford in Norfolk, VA tomorrow.

Nothing found, and it hasn't happened since. 9 months.

I'll go ahead and bet they are not able to replicate or find the issue. Maybe I can reassure by telling you it hasn't happened on mine in probably 50,000+ miles. No issues at all related to AdvanceTrac.
