Pledge Saved my Sanity!

Been battling the scratches on my radio display. Found some on there when i got the car. Tried some advice and made it worse. Read about using Pledge furniture polish. I put some on and i can not see the scratches anymore. It must fill them in. Its not a fix but now i see no scratches as long as i keep applying the Pledge when it wears off. It has helped my sanity!

I'm still waiting on the new radio for my Taurus, which was scratched all to hell and back at delivery. Everyone reluctantly agreed it was bad and they said they'd fix it (so I can scratch it MYSELF!!), but it seems it's not a simple matter of just replacing the plastic. Gotta have a whole new radio. And the one they got in for me was worse than the one in the car. Out of the box. They said there was an issue with a LOT of radios... and then just kinda shrugged and acted like they expect me to let it go. Which I won't, mostly because of the cavalier attitude.

Well my idea of not scratching the radio lens is to simply not clean it. Since i've removed the plastic film from it, i've been only using compress air to remove dirt. So far so good. IF i ever have to clean it for some reason, i will still use compress air before wiping it clean. I do the same with the gauges.

That is a good idea however when I removed the protective film it almost seemed to produce a static cling and the dust wouldn't even come off with an air compressor.

The pledge thing sounds interesting....

I think any of that plastic polish (especially for headlights) would be far too abrasive for the display..

Plastic lenz cleaner for eye glasses is all I ever use to clean my gauge faces & radio display.

I've removed scratches from instrument panel lenses with Meguiar's plastic polish. It removes the scratches and doesn't just fill them in. I've used it for years and it also does wonders for scratches on watch crystals.

I believe a common fix of scratches on touch screen phones is petroleum jelly. One of the guys I work with uses it. I bet that would work too.

The screen on the Shaker unit is made of the the most sensitive plastic I've ever seen.

Pledge didn't fix my scratches but it did a nice job cleaning anyway...

Pledge really does not fix it but does seem to fill them in were they are less noticable. Go to Amazon and order an ipad screen protector and cut it down to size. Really hides the scratches yet it is tough to get all the bubbles out.
