Lord, save me from cellphone texting type posts... Everyone in a hurry and unconcerned with proper words and punctuation, short handing and runons everywhere. Ugh.

So, in an effort to help OP and everyone out, I present the corrected version of the posts in question, because they made my head hurt. Enjoy.

I called the insurance company and they said they don't report to Carfax, the body shop does. So I call the body shop, and they said they haven't even reported it yet. So WTF? Anybody have this kind of thing happen to them?

Step one is to get their sorry butts on the phone and threaten them with a lawsuit if they do not fix it with Carfax *yesterday*, and also waive the deductible for their screw up. They pay for *everything*, no out of pocket cost for you.

Step two is after they are done with that process, and your end game on either the Boss or your current Mustang is done and they've paid out... Drop them like the sorry jerk insurance company they are.

I'd be interested to know who they are, because I might drop them if I can expect this sort of idiocy.

Good luck, man. Seriously.

It could have been either one of them.

I've seen countless police reports where the investigating officer overstepped his authority and area of expertise and actually stated in the narrative "facts" about damage at an accident scene which weren't true.

And as far as I know, body shops don't report to Carfax as mentioned in an earlier post. They are a disinterested party and have no skin in that game.

What puzzles me is how quickly Carfax received a report from someone. Typically it takes much longer.

The question is, which insurance company? Until you know for sure, dispersions shouldn't be cast.

Go contact carfax and maybe get them to tell you what's up with that faulty report.

something is defiantly a miss here, either the police officer reported it, or your insurance company did or the other party's insurance company did, I would certainly call up carfax and ask for as much info on the report and who reported it (or at least a agency name/insurance name if they can't release individuals names)

Email carfax they fixed it. They said by law they can not tell me the reporting party. It had to be the police. It got reported the same day it happened. Body shop said they don't submit it till the claim is closed by the insurance company. Instance company said they don't report to carfax because it is ineffective. Everyone doesn't have insurance as proven by the person that hit me. Did find out her license will be suspend till she pays back the insurance company.

This is why I take exactly zero stock in anything Carfax has to say. The reporting is too hit or miss, and I don't understand why they can't take reports from ONLY insurance companies, or if the title is affected then the state office that handles such affairs. I can't possibly imagine the state contacted carfax so soon, if it was the police then why did carfax even do anything with the info? Why do they care what the police have to say? They have ZERO freakin' idea about this sort of thing...

They get it wrong both ways, too. Sometimes it's unreported damage, sometimes it's an incorrect report and no damage (or different damage) occurred. I hate that so many people and dealers take so much stock in what they have to say.

Not really, it's so you can't go get pissy at whoever reported it. I get why they do it, and it's probably a better scenario all around. Too many people would use that information for nefarious purposes.

I know it's just I have to fix the screw up. It got reported to auto check never heard of them till this happened. Carfax was very easy to fix my insurance faxed them a copy of the repairs they changed the report the second the fax went through. Auto Check said they have to check with their source to even see if they will let my insurance send them a copy of the repair to change the report.
