Plastic Part under Chassis of 2014 Mustang V6

Hello Guys,

I see a plastic part under the chassis of my 2014 Mustang 3.7, I attached pics. This part is on the passenger side. Could anyone tell me whether this looks normal and whether your 2014 Mustang has the same part? My concern is I warped this part when I back off onto an ice chunk on the ground.

Thanks a lot!

Looks normal to me, or at least it looks the same as mine. I think you're good.

Hi RubyRedMCA_Beast,
Thanks for your reply.
Please double check yours, I think mine is warped, because this part should be flat against the chassis.
Attached pic shows the normal look.

What's the purpose of this plastic part? Some sort of shield?

Yep, you're right. I didn't notice how it was separated like that from the body when I initially looked at your pics.

I'd take it to the dealer, make sure they have another Stang on the lot you can compare it to. If you return to your selling dealer they will most likely not give you any problem. If you do run into a problem (them saying it's your fault) you should contact Deysha on here.

Please do not admit to the dealer that you have ran into anything. I would just tell them I was at the car wash spraying off the bottom of my car and noticed this piece hanging down.

I think they're called spats, and they supposedly help you get more MPG by controlling air flow. I had to remove mine when I installed my Boss 302 side pipes. Oh, and there should be one on each side, just forward of the rear tires.

Hello rivertown,

Welcome to the forum! My name is Deysha with Ford Service and I recommend you bring this up to your dealer as soon as possible. Also, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can get this escalated for you.

Just take it off or keep them how they are, mine are all messed up(lowered car) and plan on removing them in the spring when I get the car out of my shop and get it on a lift.
