Pinion seal change now rear axle trouble

I have a 2013 GT track pack i recently took it in to get an oil change. When i did the mechanics notified me that i had pinion seal leak. I took the car into Ford to get it changed and every since then my car vibration over thirty miles per hour and anything over 60 miles per hour the vibration is accompanied by a terrible humming noise. Dose anyone know what the problem might be?

They didn't get the driveshaft flange re-seated correctly. Take it back and get them to fix it again, and correctly this time...

I wouldn't recommend going over 60 until you get that fixed ...

There's nothing back there that needs to "calibrate" so he is just BS'ing you hoping that you will just go away, they HATE comebacks.

Really hate it when someone tries that kind of BS on me, I know better.

Make sure when Ford sends you the satisfaction survey for this repair service that you let them know what this dealer is doing.

By re-seated do you mean indexed properly?

Was referring to getting it seated flush to the flange, all it takes is a small amount of misalignment to make a vibration.

Don't think there is any way it can be indexed wrong.

I too would recommend being very careful with the car until it is looked at. If they did not get the driveshaft bolted in properly... You do not want it coming loose while you are driving and damaging the car... Possibly causing a accident.

Noises may come and go ... but vibrations don't go away, they only get worse. I'd try a new dealer or talk to someone different.

Hi JohnHarr326,

Please make another appointment with them as soon as possible. Then PM me with your dealer, mileage, VIN, full name, and best daytime number so I can escalate this to the customer service manager for your area.

Gotch'ya, driveshafts can sometimes have an issue with vibration when the flanges aren't placed back in the original orientation. The issue might be as you suggest, but its always a good idea to mark the flanges in some fashion so that the driveshaft can be aligned in the same manner when reinstalled.

The fix always seemed to be to disconnect the driveshaft at the pinion flange and rotate it until the vibration wasn't noticeable (usually 180 degrees did the trick).

Well, the GT and GT500 shafts have CV joints at the rear so there really should be no indexing issues, but yes, I do check to put regular u-joint shafts back as they came out.

That was what I was thinking when I posted, the indexing issue just maybe peculiar to u-joint driveshafts.
