Paint Shortage-Anyone have more details?
I have heard from more than one place that Ford is not accepting any new orders for certain colors of the Mustang. I do not really know that many details of the paint shortage, so what are the facts here? I hope that since I ordered in November mine will be safe, but still I would like to know more details about this.
So,
What colors are affected?
How long will this be for? Can't they just get a different supplier?
Any other thoughts?

Since Sparky is still banned here, I will repost this thing he posted on another forum
:
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
DATE: MARCH 31st, 2011 2359H
TO: All Ford and Lincoln/Mercury Dealers Worldwide
Due to the devastating circumstances in Japan that has affected our supply chain, we regret to announce that, for the forseeable future, we will be suspending all scheduling of Red and Black vehicles.
In the interim, we are making progress in finalizing a revised colour palette that will utilize the pigments that we have on hand. Look for the return of such classic Ford colors as Harvest Gold, Calypso Green and Deep Chocolate.
Attached is the sample letter that should be sent out to your customers awaiting serialization so that they may select an alternative color at the earliest opportunity so they do not lose their place in the production queue. Any customers that do not select a color in time will have a color of our choice selected for them.
Please forward any questions to this office, I'll do my best to make a timely response.
Regards,

Ok, so sparky may have been full of hot air, but I still have heard from other places that certain paints are not available. So what is the real deal?

From all I've read there is a shortage but its Tuxedo Black and some reds but it says on Ford & Lincoln trucks & suv's only. It relates to the additive/flake I beleive in the paints.

Attention members,
I would like to clarify something posted by OAC Sparky. There is no one employed by Ford Motor Company globally by the name of Avril Fuls. Given the timing of the posting, we believe someone might by trying to pull an "April Fools" joke on this topic. As seen in the press recently, there is a shortage of a metallic paint pigment produced exclusively in Japan that affects the entire automotive industry. We are limiting production of Tuxedo Black, Royal Red, Red Fire, and Red Candy for select 2011 model year vehicles. However, Mustang is not affected since we are building 2012 model year vehicles and the pigment in short supply is not used in the Mustang Black. Thank you for your support and thank you for the April Fools joke Sparky... Even I was believing it lol!!
