BTW What color combo did you go with?
I got the White CS. It will pretty much look like the one on the website minus the glass roof. I'm gonna ask for my order number tomorrow.

I put $0 deposit. My dealer is just awesome like that. Although I had to "date" a lot I crappy dealers and learn some pricey lessons. I am glad I found a keeper tho!

What's stopping him from selling it to someone else?

I also was not required to put down a deposit. This is the second vehicle I have ordered from this dealer within the last year. As long as the experience is straight-forward like it was the first go-round, i will continue to drive 3 hours and past dozens of dealers to buy from them.

Well, besides my future business and recommendations.. Nothing. I was provided with the VOC and DORA (with my name on the VOC) so I can obviously track the process. He kept me up to date with my last order, so I trust he will do the same this time. If not, it's only a car and I can get one somewhere else

A dealer doesn't have to sell x plan to anyone.
So I can see that they may of wanted a monetary commitment to order a car. And as someone else said, no deposit, no commitment, no guarantee it will be there for you when it arrives.

I gave $500 deposit when I ordered the car. Then $1500 down when I bought it after delivery. Why did ou give them $10K already?? That's crazy!!

Again, not to worry. Be sure the car you ordered is everything you expected. Look it over, maybe drive it before signing for it. With any Ford "plan" it's always best to purchase without a trade. Not necessary for more than a $1000 down.

Very cool ordering a brand new car, let alone a 2013 Mustang. Watch for your name on the window sticker.

zenkix, if your happy with the deal, that is the main thing. Buying your first new vehicle is a scary thing, and all the advise can get somewhat confusing. I dare say not many of us that made our first deal got a great one. It a hugh learning curve. I just ordered my seventh new car (I may be a little older than you), and after I left the dealer I still wondered if I could have done better. As I always say "Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things", it will all be fine. Congrats on the new ride, your gonna love it.

As far as the 10K, that's just less you'll have to pay when it arrives.

I doubt they can move a 42k retail loaded GT when they have a boss sitting there for 43k. Also he is a great dealer and he has no reason to screw me. I have given him 3 customers already.

No offense to the OP, but you should ask your original question BEFORE you toss ten grand at the dealer...

Thanks, dball584!

Hey zenkix,

I'd like to track your order for you as dball584 mentioned. Please PM me with your dealer's name and order number so I can help.

Thank you Deysha! I called my dealer Saturday and asked for the order number as well as the priority number. He's suppose to call me today. Expect a PM from me very soon! Thanks again.

EDIT:
Just got the call from my dealer. He talked to the guy who ordered my car. They know what I'm talking about, but he said they don't have the order number yet. They will get it in one or two weeks. Is this normal?

No, zenkix. Once they put your order into our system they receive a Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement sheet (DORA), which has the right order number on it.

I got into a small argument with my dealer today. He still claims they will have the DORA sheet in 1 or 2 weeks. I asked for anything that verifies that the car was ordered and he said they have nothing.

Two minutes later, he calls back and faxes me a vehicle order confirmation. It has the order number and priority number which I asked for yesterday and they said they didn't have it.

What a mess. Anyways, I sent a PM to Deysha! Hopefully I'm good to go.

Sounds like they're off to a good start! If I were in your shoes (which I kinda was) id get my money back and order from a better dealer.
