Order Delivery Timeline

Sorry if this has been asked. My poor '98 with 232K on it is starting to act up, and I've been convinced (it didn't take but a milisecond) that I need a new 5.0 .

I'm looking ahead to the Mustang Roundup in Seattle mid July, and was thinking the "Pony Trails" would be a LOT of fun in a new 5L. The question is, how long should I expect for delivery if I order? My '98 took about 2 months.

Thanks for any insight!

With the factory just started production and the fact that they haven't given the OK to buy for retails, it may be 3 months to be safe.

If you want it by mid July I'd have an order in before mid April since there is likely to be a lot of orders ahead of yours. For some reason with the 10's deliveries took a long time even when the plant was at normal production. My '10 took 2.5 months and was ordered in aug 09, well after the launch. Hopefully the 11's will roll out quickly since it's mostly just an engine change over versus an almost entirely new bodystyle like with the '10.

Spill the beans....what options/colors are ya gonna order?

Also, fritzOSU03 is absolutely right about that 2 months, it seems like forever. It's the way to go though if you want a certain combo.

Have your reps said anythihg about when Ford will give the Ok to Sell. I can't imagine having to wait 3 more months. The last two have been torture!!

I'm looking forward to just knowing when the retail orders will be scheduled. Just a history of consumer bias I suppose, but whenever a company selling a product can't tell you when an order can or will be filled, it usually means months of nothing followed by the company canceling your order without even telling you. Of course, there is little to no chance of this happening with a vehicle order from Ford, but I can't seem to shake the feeling. I'll feel so much better when retail orders start getting scheduled, and especially when my order in particular is scheduled.

I wish I had an older Mustang to tide me over. I saw an old early 90's 5.0 GT for sale a couple of days ago. I almost went for it. I rarely see older GTs anymore, especially ones that are for sale. Prices are outrageous now though. I bet they would have wanted 6k. I should have kept my 86 Capri 5.0 I had about 10 years ago. I remember I picked it up for 1k.

yes it is frustrating. ford wont do is wrong.

im anxious for customers to get cars so we get to find out the problems with this car. You know it will have one or two. Hopefully not big and something small... and not like-cant keep plugs in, cant get them out, clutch not installed right...etc.

I've looked at the 10's. The only thing I can find that I don't like is the the way the side windows are sealed. The seal itself is fine, but the way the window has to come down when the door is opened is ... a bit tacky. Still, it's probably the nicest car I have ever looked at.

Would it be quicker to buy a car off a lot than getting your order?

Yes since they are shipping stock orders first

GT Premium 401a in Ebony. Gonna skip on the Brembos, comfort package, and glass roof. Otherwise, load me up!

Are dealers "dealing" on these things? I'm going back to the guy that my parents have purchased 2 Mustangs and an F350 from @ Bickford Ford (plug, GREAT dealer), so I'm hoping loyalty counts for something.

I've only heard that they are BUILDING stock orders first, nothing about shipping them first. In fact general consensus around the forums is that retail will ship first. Of cource my dealer ordered mine as a stock unit so hopefully they do ship first.

I'm seeing a lot of stock dealer orders with ETA's, Ford is gonna have to issue the OK to sell soon or start pushing those dates back.

My build date is today, find out tomorrow if it got built. ETA was 4/4 got bumped last week to 4/10. If it's true I may be one of the first to post pics!!!

My dealer just e-mailed me today saying expected delivery for my car is now 4/21.

My hopes were around May 1st, so I'm happy.
