Only in Canada do we get shafted

Last year I ordered the 2013, so excited to order my very first car in my life.

I worked so hard my entire life to spring for a convertible 2013, and waited for 12 weeks...it finally shows up, and we were notified that the gt's here in Canada came with the v6 chrome grille and no fogs in the grille.

Of course, fast forward 11 months later, and true to form by transport Canada and big business , the 2014s are now here. Low and behold, guess what the change is for the 2014s in Canada.

I swear, these things are done on purpose to always screw with the small working man.

Yes, I know I can change the grille, bit should I be out of pocket for $300 to do it ?

I'm starting to get sick of ford. They could have found a way for the 13s to look like the gt's in the US.

Thumbs down to ford !!!!!

And transport Canada !

I would say 'thumbs up to Ford' for listening to all the complaints about no GT lamps in the '13 GT's for Canada and getting them back in for '14. Ford is very responsive to suggestions, and this is further proof.

Why is it when government does something idiotic, the company gets blamed. Ford had no control over your government's decisions, affecting the Mustang GT. Being a large, multi-national company, they just cannot replace one lighting system with another. They had to redesign the system, and then get the government to agree to the changes, upgrades. How long do you think it took the government to approve the new lighting system? Been to a government office to do anything lately? You should get the idea. Getting it done this quickly is a testament to Ford.

What was the reasoning for the fog light delete in the first place? Is it Illegal to have them or just to sell a new car with them??

Do not blame Ford. it is government regulation. look at the gas crunch of the late eighties. Auto manufacturers were not allowed to make big engines. Look at automotive oil the EPA has regulated certain chemicals out of it causing over head cams to go flat. A good manufacture can only adapt and work around the rules as they come about. Yes I know it sucks but it sounds more like sour grapes being thrown at the wrong entity.

Actually those are driving lights and not fog lights. I know most of us call them fog lights and because that is what we use them for. So maybe the Canadian government views them as driving lights and consider it a safety infraction to not have them. Not fog lights are usually low to the ground and not up high.

When I bought my 2011 the manual actually has a description for the garage door opening visors in it. Somehow, someway, Ford decided to wait until 2012 to actually put them in the vehicles and it cost me over 400.00 to buy 2 visors and replace my crappy ones and by the way, I'm in the U.S. **** happens, you just have to roll with it.

I can't imagine how angry you would have been if you bought a '10.

My car didnt' come with the fog lights either, but the dealer gave me a GT/CS grille for free so I put that in instead. ( I wasn't a fan of the chrome around the stock grille). There are many aftermarket grilles out there that look far better than stock

I'd rather have this than the fogs anyway

You would think a big biz like ford would have had some intelligence to make sure they met the regulation don't you think ?

Always easy to blame government all the time, but how about the 150k director who didn't know his job to have it fixed before Canadian delivery, why are they not accountable ?

By your experience it looked like Ford did meet Canada's regulations and that is why a few things you wanted did not come on it. Seems like you just want to blame someone for something that did not go your way. Or you are just stubborn and do not want to accept what has happened instead of concentrating on the solution. I live in Washington state and all cars sold here have to meet California emission standards. So how would that be Fords fault for adding or omitting something to comply with those regulations. For god sakes you drive a Mustang. We shine, We win and We do not whine when things go bad.

Do you know what the Canadian regulations were at the time your car was manufactured, or are you just assuming that Ford did it to you?

Glad Ford listened! I have a set of LED fogs with the grille off my 13' that I'm trying to get rid of for cheap.

I believe this was covered in an earlier thread, on this forum. Apparently, the rules were changed after production started. In fact people were, at that time, complaining the Canadian Ford ads showed the GT with the grill lights, but the cars were showing up without them. You may want to do a search and read through that thread. Perhaps it will answer some of your questions. In any event, enjoy your car, and don't sweat the things we have no control over. Life is too short...and, you have some of the most beautiful country in the world to drive the Mustang in.

Correct and thank you, I was one of those that order the 13 based on the consistency of the previous gt's , then the gt cars showed up with the v6 grille. Ford didn't want to address, and said talk with the dealer, the dealer said it was up to ford. And the games began.

Luckily I ordered white, and the chrome grilles don't look as strong as say a black or blue car. Regardless, just sad to see that you get something different than what you expect ( work for ). It's just another kick in the groin to see that for 2014 in Canada , now the fogs are back in the grille as they were first originally intended.

Ford higher ups could have did better to understand any changes and comply as opposed to just throwing in the v6 grilles when they had an issue. Great it works out for the new 2014 owners, but for the rest of us that were trying to live the dream for a 2013 didn't get a discount , we got something less than what was advertised.

Just sucks that the hard working little guy always gets stiffed, when they spend their hard earned money, get lied and shafted too.

By both the government and a large corporation.
