The stock oil filter on my Boss was a very small unimpressive plain white can of corn... Reminded me of a can of nibblets in my wife's pantry. The Royal Purple replacement I have on now is much bigger and beefier.

I run the recommended Filter although I did look into running the 820 over the 500 thinking there would be more filter area and that is when I learned of the pressure differences in the Bypass valve.
I did find out that the FRPP equivalent to the FL820s was a much better filter and that is what the SVT guys are running.

There is a comparison of a few of the aftermarket and the standard 820s there.

I would think you need to contact the Manufacturer on their Specs.

I go with Amsoil ea017 filters to go along with Amsoil 5w20.

I will be switching to that Amsoil filter when I switch to Amsoil 10-40 next spring to replace the hydro-cracked lame Royal Purple (cheaped out just like the original Mobil-1, sigh).

Where is this coming from? Royal Purple isn't hydro-cracked. It's group IV PAO-based. I know because I've run the analysis on it myself. Sounds like you're buying into the Amsoil BS.

RP didn't used to be, but here it is;
http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...-amsoil-3.html
I don't know where all the hate comes from for Amsoil. Don't like their business model or the way the advertise? Fine, buy something else. I did my research after finding out about the specific RP oil I bought wasn't was I thought it was, and decided on Amsoil. I would bet you a beer the test results will be superior to the Royal Purple.
Thanks for posting that other link Brandon, those are my test results on line 8 & 9.
A lot of people are surprised when they read about the viscosity standards have a very liberal scale, and varies depending upon the manufacturer. So while Ford specs 50 weight on the factory fill, Motorcraft quickly shears to a 40 weight. Every oil change I get analyzed, and will have to wait about another year before my Amsoil fill, as I still 8 bottles of RP on the shelf (yes I know I need 8.5, will have to get another qt this spring).
