If you ever really want to know what condition your oil is in, just contact Blackstone Labs and get a sample tested. They send you a test kit with instructions, and I think it's only about $25. Then you'll know without a doubt how your oil is doing. You can also test your oil to find the optimum oil change intervals, it may be perfectly good at 5k, 8k or 10k miles. You'll know from the test results how it is.

The 07+ GT500s have an oil cooler, its wierd little bugger, and interestingly if you have to disconnect the oil cooler for whatever reason, Ford says to replace it as it can severely damage the engine if reused again.

The cooler is finned, but I think its a hybrid design that uses liquid to liquid cooling as well.

I was there a few weeks ago and the oil cooler I saw was huge. If that is the one they are selling it will do a great job controlling oil temperature. I made my own kit and added a oil thermostat as my car is still street driven and I want the oil to warm fast but then stay cool. Not really needed on a track car where you can let the car warm up.

I wonder if they're using a thermostat in their setup. I think if I piece one together it won't have one, as the summer weather here is pretty hot, and I can afford to let the car warm up a bit when its cold out. I might engineer a cover for it however.

 

has anybody here PM'd Shaun (Stinger1982) about it? He's pretty good at getting back to his PM's.
