I let them do the oil change on my truck while I watch, but never would have them touch my Mustang!
Mine are all Ford employees and the shop is ran by one of the dealership's service managers.

we do know that in the USA oil makers can call double hydro cracked crude motor oil 'full synthetic'. But in reality very few oils claiming to be full syn really are. Only a few high end motor oils are actually true synthetic. Nothing wrong with the hydro cracked oils, just a shame marketing for these companies can get away with falsely advertising them as synthetic.

Very true. The only true real synthetic oils I'm aware of are the following: Royal Purple, Red line, Amsoil and Mobil 1 extended performance (one with the gold cap).

RP isn't, it's dino oil based.

I didn't know that. I always thought Royal Purple was a true synthetic oil. The things you learn.

It is so easy to get sucked in by all this false/confusing wrong advertizing that is dumped on the US. Did I see that amsoil has now a line of dino/syn oil (lower priced) to get a share of the 'USA dino full syn' market? If you can't beat them.....gettin so you cant even find the fine print no more. If you are paying less than 12 bucks a quart, it's most likely fancy dino/syn...who are you going to trust?

Well I think Mobil 1 extended performance fully synthetic is a true 100% synthetic oil or so I believe so.

Yeah, got that info from the lubricants sales rep from back when I managed a NAPA store and when I asked the RP rep he didn't deny it and wouldn't tell me any more.

Bull****. It's grade 4 oil and it is one of the few that is truly synthetic. I know this because I have seen analytical tests on the stuff itself. Whoever told you it was dino is ****ting on you. RP is in fact one of the best oils you can put in your car.

I have run Mobile 1 in every car I have had for years. More expensive but worth it.

From RP's web site (http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/produ...FbDm7AodB00Azw):

"Royal Purple’s API-licensed Motor Oil combines premium base oils with proprietary additive technologies to create high performance motor oils that optimize engine performance."

And in their FAQ section, they state it is a true synthetic:
