OEM remote start

Does anyone know if the Ford OEM remote start for a 2014 Mustang is plug-n-play? I've researched other forums and the F150's have a plug-n-play for them but I haven't come across any info if it's plug-n-play for our cars. Any info would be much appreciated.

I got it from Tasca Ford for $240 plus tax and did the install myself.
Works great!

So was it plug and play? Does it work for Manuals as well?

No and no. I had to splice in 5 wires which weren't too difficult to locate. In the instructions, it said that this was NOT for manual transmissions. I'm not sure if Ford makes one for manuals. I do know that you can get an aftermarket one for manual transmissions.

Before installing it, I had researched and located all of the wire splice locations so that when I did the install it would be easy. Overall it took me about 4 hours for the actual installation.

I ordered my 2011 v6 with remote start. I was wondering if yours came with the antenna near the inside rear view mirror like mine has? Just wondering... [IMG][/IMG]

This is how the instructions told me where and how to mount the antennae. I noticed your antennae is different. Do you have the 2-way 1000' remote start?

It was to be mounted below the mirror so it would have no interference and have full range which is supposed to be up to 1000 feet.

I'm not sure. I have the only one Ford offered for the Mustang in 2011.

I looked up the 2011 on Tasca Ford and it shows two different models offered. http://www.tascaparts.com/index.php?...p=remote-start
One has a shorter range and the other is a bi-directional longer range.

No. It must be the shorter range one, mine is the one button model.

Oddly enough my dealership recommended a 3rd party place for the remote start, with an audiovox system. I haven't followed up with it yet though. I wonder why they didn't offer the OEM?

The OEM was an easy install.
Maybe they didn't want to install it so they recommended a third party.

Honda did the same thing with me. They dont want the headache of dealing with repairs on it.

Hey DJ2014, do you have a link that shows which wires and locations that they are located?

DO IT!! You'll be glad you did. It's nice to be able to get into a warm car while it's freezing outside.
Is your car auto?

I have the link that shows you how to program it. I had to get the install instructions from Ford. I know a mechanic that works there and that's how I got the instructions. I could scan them and send them to you if you plan on getting it. There shouldn't be any difference in the 2011 and 2014. Let me know.

I just purchased a 2014 but got no remote button fob what according to the build sheet, is remote start on the car. I bought a one direction remote, and the dealer is trying to say it must be an after market remote on the car, because they are having trouble programming it to activate. It has that small antenna loosly hanging above the mirror, but I thought it was for the satalite radio . Now I don't know if it is a bi direction remote I need or what? There must be a way to find out what unit it is because it came from Ford.😀
