OEM or MMD Side window Louvers?

Is there any difference between the MMD and the OEM Side window Louvers? They seem to look the same?

3m dual lock is like an industrial type Velcro. So I assume you could take the factory lovers off and clean the glass.

From the factory they have a Velcro on the Louvers. It is very handy to have. Before I knew they came off I tried cleaning the window with water and compressed air... Failed miserably. It is a requirement to take the Louvers off to clean the glass. Do not permanently double sided tape them on. You will regret it. I cannot speak for the MMD Louvers. However I love the Factory ones. They really look like they belong on the car.

The MMD ones from AM come with the dual lock (By the way, anyone looking for new dual lock, Home depot sells the 3M stuff in the same isle as the bolts/screws/fasteners). The MMD ones mount only to the window without touching the body/paint of the car. I had some MMD's on my 13 and the fit and finish was superb. Dual lock is a harder plastic and Velcro-like where both sides are like the scratchy side of regular "cloth" Velcro. The dual lock snaps together and is much harder to pull apart than Velcro.

I looked at 3m's Site and they have 3 different types of Dual lock and about 25 temperatures and colors? Is the stock ones Black? The ones at Home Depot will they work on the car?

Here is what I used on my factory OEM louvers. I bought mine used from someone on one of these forums and they had taken off the 3M stuff off the louvers as well so I bought a roll of it. You can also buy less amounts.

It works very well. I recently installed a different set of factory louvers that had better looking paint and I was able to remove the other louvers and install these new ones without any problems.

This stuff I bought looks identical to the tape that was on this last set of factory louvers that I installed so it is probably the same stuff that the factory uses. You can just cut the exact length you need and if the louvers you install don't have the tape already on them, you can see where the tape needs to go and cut to that length. I believe the width was already correct. Just buy the same stuff I used and you will be good to go.
