My Glass-roof '12 GT had 10.2 miles on it when I took delivery. This makes sense.

I still cannot find a picture of a OE Glass roof car before the roof is installed... If anyone has one I would Love to see it! Does anyone know how much weight the roof can support?... Not how much weight it adds to the car... Just curious...

IIRC it adds either 26 or 28 lbs over the normal steel roof. As for weight, it's really more a function of lbs per square inch (otherwise known as PSI) than just weight. Based on what I know about the structural characteristics of tempered auto glass though, I'd say it could comfortably hold as much, if not more weight than, the metal roof.

About 8 miles on mine when delivered. If you look at the roof it has 2 black metal panels at either end of the roof. It wouldn't be unlikely that they just exclude the roof skin during the assembly process. All the structural elements would still be underneath to maintain integrity during the assembly process. The roof panel is a serviceable item much like the windshield.

Ford has two roof stampings for Mustang coupes - one for the regular roof and one for the glass roof. The glass is, indeed, installed down the street from the Flat Rock assembly plant. The glass roof adds 28 lbs and offers the same torsional rigidity as the steel roof.

Just figured it was a straight forward factory installed option. My salesman informed me the reason my car had 8 miles on the odometer (I requested no test drive on the PDI) was that the glass roof cars are driven down the street from the factory to Fords Personalization Facility where the roof is installed.

That is great info as usual, Five Oh Brian and Siber Express! Here’s a video on our plant, guys.

Enjoy!

I'm looking at the parts required to retrofit in the OEM glass roof and all OEM pieces (seals, headliner shade, etc.). Anyone have any info on such?

Also, the above video was taken down due to infringement. Burn.

As a follow up, I just bought a glass roof '14 GT 2 weeks ago. I should have done this years ago! Love the glass roof!

I think my '97 had 7 miles on it. And the '12 (glass roof) also had 7 or 8 on it. All I remember is it was very close to the '97 before I went for a drive to make sure it was ok. after that it was up to about 14.

I don't think there is any special driving for the glass roof. I believe the facility the glass roof is put in at is connected to the plant. (video above no longer available)
