Odered car delivered: 22 miles?
#23
My 03 had 11 miles when I got it and it had a full tank of gas so I assume the dealer drove it a bit. I see numbers all over the board on this issue. If I am paying 30K plus I dont want anybody in the seat but thats just me. I also always put a sticky with the miles on the dash when I have any work done to make sure nobody takes any joy rides. I am **** about this. I mean very ****. Stealerships are the worst. My indy guy is ok and I give him a pass but its only because I trust him. He drives a vette and understands how important it is and he has his long term business interests.
He is a very good guy even though he is a Chevy guy.

I have my 2011 scheduled for striping at a local shop and I am paranoid about the stupid punk kid taking it for a drive. The owner of the shop is pretty cool and said he'll probably do my car instead of the kid. The kid owns a 300GTVR4 with a ricer wing on the back so I know he'll be interested in the car. I'll write down the mileage before I leave the shop and check it again when I return. If it goes up more than 1/10th of a mile you'll see the following ad on Craigslist.
For sale: 2011 Mustang GT with .1 more miles than it should have. Needs new windshield, red stain on dash board. 3rd party sale, owner is on extended holiday.

I'm a Ford tech and when new cars are delivered to us, they generally have 7-25 miles on them depending on the model and how new. The 5.0's have been coming with extra mileage now, probably because of the hold and such. The 2011 Super Duties were the same but has since came down. GT500's will generally have more than 20 miles to undo their break-in strategy to allow for boost so the customer can get the full effect on their test drive, if the dealership allows for it.

I now have this mental image at Ford dealerships around the country.......2011's up on jackstands at the rear.....transmission in reverse.....rear wheels spinning. Young salesman with sweating palms saying......"Ferris, the miles aren't coming off"

Some cars especially ones that were affected by holds are going through extra testing. My car came in with less than 5 miles but shipped the day after it came off the line. The car that came in a couple of days before mine and was on hold for a month had 35 miles.
In my Corvette days if your car was one of the ones chosen for extra testing they could show up with 40-75 miles.

I have you all beat. 94 miles on delivery. The car was on the dealer lot less than 9 hours, with half of that spent in prep. Keep in mind that it also drove itself the whole way from the train yard to the dealership (a not insignificant distance of roughly 70 miles) so that was actually a large chunk of it. A more accurate number for what it could have been was what the dealer told me it had when they picked it up: 17 miles.
