The gt500 steering wheel and maybe even the recaro seats should be an option in the gt's. Or at least corbeau or sparco seats. Especially since road race season is practically here it could make things alot easier for buyers looking for a more supportive seat. These new 5.0's are track animals so to me it just makes sense

The 5.0 will rev faster but the speedo won't move as fast, its all part of the gearing.

The MT82 gear ratios are 3.66, 2.43, 1.69, 1.32, 1, and .65

The Tr6060 gear ratios are 2.97, 1.79, 1.30, 1, .80, and .63

Try racing each other with you in 4th and him in third for a evenly geared match.

Maybe one day when I can drive better and have time we will head to the track. It definitely makes sense that the gt's 5th matches up with the gt500s 4th. When you put it in that perspective the gt500 does pull harder in 4th than the gt in 5th.

I really would like a gt500 steering wheel but at the same time i like my blue stitching to match my 401a grabber black/grabber blue interior. Besides I hear most places wont touch steering wheel installs because of the airbag issue.

I unfortunately can't comment on recaros since my dad's car is a 2011 and they were not an option on the 2011's, but on a side note I think that the gt500 has larger side bolsters than my regular gt.

Why? I'm seeing almost 24 mpg in my daily highway drive back and forth to work and I'm anything but easy on my 5.0. Given the power of the new 5.0's, I'm pretty impressed at what they're capable of in terms of fuel economy.

Yea the airbag is whats keepin most away from custom steering wheels jobs. A dealer will do it but not without sucking your wallet dry. And the gt500 does have more supportive seats from the factory but not too much differnet from the gt really. But the recaros are amazing! Good friends with the dealer and he let me test a 2012 shelby. OMG i fell in love! Crisp shifts, great power, and one mean lookin SOB! Black with red stripes and black rims with HID's

I've read a lot of people on here and elsewhere talking about their mpg and I've never heard them talking about numbers that high.

I manage 26 here and there in my 02

I know it doesnt make the same kind of power as the 5.0 and its a smaller engine but still for a v8, mustangs get surprisingly good mileage

Diablo GT90 took the time to share his thoughts and impressions of the two cars...he never said it was gospel nor the final word on the two cars...he never claimed to be a professional test driver.

So he's new to driving stick- he's still able to do something that 90% of drivers lack the ability to do.

I thought it was good info and well written...and I think I know what he's getting at. The difference between the GT and the GT500 is smaller than ever as of the 2011 and 2012 model years. Of course the GT500 will be faster when you run them against the stopwatch but its not hard to imagine how under certain conditions, it might not feel that way.

I test drove a 5.0 only before to buy my gt500. If you dont push the Shelby, yes the différence with the 5.0 is not noticeable. Push down the pedal to the floor on the gt500 and youll understand. For the gas mileage, my 2012 is still under 1000 miles And gaves me an average of 18.9 MPG. For my last trip of 400 km, crusing at a steady speed of 110 km/h (68 MPH), gaves me an average of 21,8 MPG. Its burning twice what my VW Golf TDI takes, with 4X the hp of the Golf..... Not bad at all !

Or maybe he's a major league umpire?

So I just took a look at the link, wondering if maybe this was breaking news and Ford re-rated the 5.0 for some reason...but no. It says 412 right in the link.

He's looking at the specs where it says 'regular fuel'

For all intents and purposes...its 412hp.
I'm not going to ask someone after a race whether they've used 87 or 91 octane "Well you are only running the 402hp tune..."

Well... at least we no longer have to worry about his sanity... but yeah, I would be willing to bet that basically nobody on this forum is giving up the horse power to save $3 on a $50 fill up.
