Now for the 2011 GT500

Now we know all about the 11 GT and the new GT350. With less then a month untill the Chicago Auto Show has there been any new news on the 11 GT500? We know an AL block but that about it. With 2010 seeing a 40hp bump do we think there will be another bump due the the GT350 HP?

Thing is the 350 is not a ford factory product.
Even if the GT350 came out with 550-600hp, that wouldn't effect the GT500 which still comes in way cheaper.

There may be a slight increase, but I would expect the better weight to do much better.

Ford won't unveil the Order Guide for the GT500 until they reveal the car (which should be Chicago Auto Show). Once they do next month, the Order Guide should be out shortly. Lets hope.

That being said, there is a SVT Performance Package available that is in CONCEPTS at work. So that's one new option.

I would think that Ford and Shelby reached some sort of agreement/understanding that the GT500 would retain the higher hp rating. Seems that it would make sense for all parties involved.

Ah ok that makes sence then. I was just thinking that since they both wear the Shelby nametag that they might not want to compete but since the GT500 is basically a SVT they are not in direct competition.

What date is the Chicago show?

I'm guessing a nice round 550bhp, with minimal, if any, external mods

Jeff, what does the SVT package show you in CONCEPTS? Does it explain anything in terms of what is coming with it?

It's strange I think. The Coupe has painted 19x9.5" stock in 2010. Vert 18x9.5. Maybe it's a vert option? Maybe the coupe will lose the wheels as standard and get the 18x9.5s, requiring option to 19s? The coupe wheels on the 2010 are VERY expensive.

Ford must have a share in Goodyear stock as the rear tires will go up in smoke at an even greater pace now...I don't understand why would the GT get the summer Pirelli's but not the GT500.

We all know in actuality from the dyno tests the Shelby is closer to 570hp. I say the 2011 gets 570+.

I guess Ford is never gonna learn that better tires are a MUST.
