Non essential drive is a good cure for COVID locdown

So we're still under lockdown here in south Germany, but going for a drive is allowed. I spent lots of time messing around on the empty B-roads here lately. It's therapeutic.

Have you guys done the same back in the States?

This is an older video, but I was wondering if I can hit the 168mph limiter in my M2 between exits on the Autobahn. Turns out yes.

Nice!
I'm two states away from my pony (long story) but I would have been seeking out some twisties and straightaways for sure!

I am still working during the lockdown so I am not seeing much of a difference other than a little less traffic and the bare toilet paper aisle. Mostly driving my Fusion due to the distance to work, but I did take the Mustang one day last week. I wanted to drive it a little before swapping the a/c compressor. It went out last summer and I haven't got around to fixing it yet, but with summer coming I figure it is time.

Nice that the Germans have the good sense and courtesy to keep to the right hand lanes when going relatively slow. Pretty impressive closing rate.

Oh no, hope you can get back to your Stallion soon! Twisties and a fast car with character are just what the Doctor ordered.

I'm working too.... but from home. Which means cabin fever!! It's nice in some aspects, but I get itchy to go fast for no reason sometimes. Good luck with the A/C compressor!

This. Best things about Germany
1) no speed limits
2) people stay-the-****-over to the right, so you can enjoy 1)

A/C compressor, accumulator/drier, and belts changed on Sunday. I borrowed the neighbors vacuum pump yesterday once I got home from work to evacuate and recharge. Everything is good so far. It was only the clutch like I thought, but you have to remove the compressor to change the clutch. Also, Ford wants $170 for the clutch and the compressor with a new clutch and pulley was $330. I figured with 86,000 miles it was better to swap out the compressor.

No speed limits would be nice and I live in Tennessee where most of the passing is done on the right, since the slower cars usually sit in the left or middle lanes.

well, not exactly . . . the speed limit is a bit lower here, LOL . . . though there is a road out back through the woods where they pretty much leave us alone, it's where all the cool kids go ;-)

I just got the e-mail that SCCA is starting to revive some of their events so this year might not be a total loss after all!

I drive mine for the weekly trip to the grocery store. The weather has been nice enough that I've had top down trips. Very therapeutic!

You know they passed the new law saying that it is a Misdemeanor to make people pass on the right, oh I am sorry that means they would have to enforce it and it is not worth it to get out of the car for $50.
Only reason for me to go to Europe would be to Germany and the Autobahn

You know what it is like around here. Everyone watches too much NASCAR, so they hug the left and make you pass on the outside. I have been to Europe once and enjoyed the food, drink, and countryside. Never made it to Germany though.

Been in the mid 70's F here lately. Perfect weather for leisurely Covid19 cruises with the top down.

I was going down the autobahn back in 1975 around 100 mph (160km) . Someone in a 911 passed me so fast I had to steer to the left from the air pressure as it went by me
