Nitrous junkies come inside!!
Nitrous junkies come inside!!
I love the way my car looks, sounds , even the way it performs. But i just want that extra edge and don't feel like spending 6k on a supercharger at the moment. I'm a novice to nitrous but I figured some people on here will be able to help me make a decision. I'm looking at this kit from American muscle http://www.americanmuscle.com/zex-mu...s-2005-gt.html
However I'm not sure if I need to add a few items ( Bottle heater, plate ,etc)
Can anyone who is running nitrous give me a nice little list of the exact parts I should look for. An the real pros n cons to nitrous. Thanks in advance!!!

That's a good kit, I had that on a previous Mustang. If you get it I would recommend getting the racer's kit. It comes with the bottle heater, blowdown tube, pressure gauge and purge(IIRC). You'll need all that stuff if you go to the track.
That being said, i wouldn't do nitrous again. It's great for the track if you go there a lot but you can't really use it on the street, nor should you IMO. You need a special tune for nitrous and a remote bottle opener.

I had that on my Mustang last year - 75 shot on the V6 gave it a lot of kick.
You will want the pressure gauge, heater, purge and tracks will generally require a blow down tube. Since it is really a track specific performance mod I didn't find a remote bottle opener necessary. Just pop the trunk before you get in the staging lanes, open the bottle and check the pressure (you want around 900 lbs - and on cool evenings or after you've made several passes you will need the heater to keep the pressure up).
Installation was very easy. The most time consuming part of the install was getting the car jacked up so I could crawl around underneath it.

Here is an article from Breenspeed outlining the Zex system and it's usage... It'll safely give you 75hp. Anything over you'll have to rework the spark plugs... Also just as a fyi, here's how NOS systems work...
While cheaper up front. You get what you pay for, as it's not always on tap. It has to be activated (you push a button). And is thus, used selectively. Which if that's for you, then by all means!!
But superchargers tho heavier in price are one of the best hp additons.
Let us know what takes place.
