New York Auto Show 4/4-4/11

Hey guys, not sure if anyone has gone yet. I'll be there tomorrow night, cameras in hand to post back here. I'm hoping that Black Shelby is there... need to see "my" car!

I'm really not feeling the thin stripes

Does anyone know if you can delete the standard HIDs and have the "normal" headlamps?

Don't think so, I think they're standard now

Seeing the display there in person, I was disappointed. I asked one of the representatives and they gave me the BS about restricted floor space (Keep in mind they had 2 SVT Raptors sitting side by side downstairs). Last year they had Mustang Alley which was cool....this year nadda....

Another thing that I didn't understand is that with all this push for increased fuel economy Ford didn't even have a V6 car there?

I think if they had a 5.0 car there that people could actually sit in, it would have been much better than the one on it's side even though it was cool to see the underside of the car... Ford's marketing leaves something to be desired when it comes to Expos. As much as I hate to say it, Mini had the most unique display with a car being on a leash.

Are you kidding me? The Black 500 isn't there? %&@%$&%$& @#&%^%#$^ #&^%^#@&... The only reason I was going to the show was to see the car in Black.... If I didn't buy my tickets already, I wouldn't even bother...

It was a big disappointment, I was hoping to at least be able to sit in a GT. It was a waste of time and money in my opinion.

I only go to see the Mustangs and was in the city Saturday. I was pressed for time and missed going but now I see I didn't miss any Mustangs.

How do they expect to plug the new 5.0 like that in the NE region? I'm already prepaid so I'll have to make the best of it... Any special photos anyone on wants?

Sit in a 10' at a dealer, same thing.

I'm curious how well the Mustang sells in the northeast. I'm from Long Island and live in the Boston area now. Mustangs stick out up here since they're not the most common. I was back on Long Island recently and saw them everywhere. Maybe the northeast as a whole isn't too important to their sales?

ECI, I respectfully disagree with you. At the New York Auto Show, you have the chance to have thousands of people see the latest Mustang. How many potential customers come to the show? This is a great marketing channel if it's used.

After going to the show, Ford's marketing department disappointed me. Especially after having Mustang Alley last year.

I would love to see Mustang Sales by region as well. I've only seen a handful of 2010s on the road.

You disagree that sitting in the 10' will give the same impression that sitting in an 11' will?

No, what he's saying is that the average person might be impressed with seeing it at the auto show and become a potential customer as opposed to wandering in to a Ford dealership on their own.

Thanks Firedragon. ECI, I think you took my statements a bit at face value....

I'm not going to debate with you, the 2010 and 2011 interiors are nearly identical.

Ford missed a chance at marketing the new Mustang, and forgetting to bring a V6 to the show was a mistake.

I didn't really take any photos last night... nothing in the FORD area anyway... Took pics of the Fiat 500 (girls) more than anything... Works of art they were - 500's were nice too!

The biggest dissapointment for me (and more importantly, my wife) was not having the Black shelby there... The silver car didn't give the wow factor either of us were hoping for. She, now being unemployed, is less than thrilled with the idea of a nice hefty payment.... I had hoped seeing the car as we had ordered it, would have given her a spark. And yes, no V6 at the show was crap... Chevy had 5 Camaros (7 if you count the hennessey's) and 3 corvettes.... Ford had like 4 or 5 fiestas.

I'm going on Friday and it's supposed to rain. Even though Ford seems to be stingy with their Stang display, bar hopping afterward will help! Hopefully is doesn't rain all day!
