VERY impressive!
They snuck a bunch of other things in with this update too... more than I expected.
Interesting part from the Jalopnik article about stiffness improvements to the convertible:
http://jalopnik.com/5408309/2011-for...5-hp-v6-30-mpg
"Anyone who's been in the convertible knew cowl shake was a problem, and as such Ford's stiffened things quite a bit, the 2011 is over 1000% stiffer than the 2010. That's not a typo. The improvements come in underbody and cowl cross-bracing and structural foam injected into the door pillars. 1000%, pretty impressive."

Your '05 4.6 has 40 ft-lbs. more torque. The H.P. means nothing unless you're trying to achieve a new land speed record to the grocery store
Edit: Also the '11v6 weighs more the the '05 GT

the V6 will never have the V8 sound...and the 11 still has the same rear bumper/taillamps that made me go buy the 09 sitting undriven in the garage as a backup for whenever the 06 dies.
Kudos to ford on the new engines- definitely great news, really wondering if the '14 will offer a V8 at all- a few more years of tweaks, who knows where the V6 will be...
Personally I wish they could develop a torque monster version- 450-500 ft/lb @2500, and even with a 4k redline, in daily driving it would be the fun car to drive...I had a few bigblocks growing up, even a low revving 400 2 barrel low compression motor had a boatload of torque, made 'seat of the pants' quiet effortless acceleration no problem in a 2 ton boat of a LTD...now the 4 barrel 429, >10:1 compression motor was far more fun (all time favorite motor), in everyday 'quiet' driving the massive torque was still similar off idle between the smog 400 and the hot 429...I miss that feeling of effortless acceleration with a quiet V8 rumble.
think about it- not counting track days, how often does your tach exceed 4k without you breaking a law and making a lot of noise...topend horsepower is great for bragging rights, but in reality torque at 2~3k is what moves you 99.9% of the lifetime of the car...hp at 7k to me is kinda like nitrous oxide IMO...you cant REALLY enjoy it more than a very, very, very small percentage of the time you spend behind the wheel. I still hope to add a blower to my 06- not for the 12 second quarters(and possible decreased engine life) but for the everyday extra 100 ft/lb off idle where it legally lives, making that more fun...
I love my mustang, but the 5 or 10 miles its enjoyed 1/4 mile at a time briefly putting out its 300 hp, still leaves the other 31,990 miles on the odometer kinda lacking more grunt. another 100 ft/lb, even though down in the 150 hp part of the graph would have made that 31,990 even more enjoyable- IMO enough NOT to have driven the other 5 or 10 miles at all...know what I mean?

That will all depend on what options the '05 GT and '11 V6 in question have. With just a few options it is easy to get an '05 GT over 3500 lbs, and Ford said the 2011 V6 with performance package will weigh less than 3500 lbs, and that will be one of the heavier configurations for a 2011 V6 Coupe due to the larger and heavier wheels and tires the performance package cars get.
