New Purchase, Quick Question
Hey everyone. So I've been looking into purchasing a new 2014 Mustang V6. I'd love to get the V8, but being 20, insurance would be insane. And I don't make tons of money, so I think the sixxer is a better choice for me. I plan on getting it with the FP6 appearance package, 3.31 gears, and the ambient lighting. Possibly the tech package too if I could afford it. I plan to mod the hell out of the 6 too. Anyway, I've talked to a dealer ( all through email ) and we recently agreed on $100 below invoice. I've never bought a car before but that sounds decent right? I also just recently figured out I qualify for Xplan as well due to the company I work for. Should I go in and not mention that and stick with what we agreed on or do you think Xplan is better pricing? Also i have the $750 coupon. Will that combine with xplan? I'm just obviously trying to get the best deal possible. Thank you in advance and hopefully I'm in a new mustang owner soon.

Buy a nice 2011 5.0 and it'll be cheaper than a new V6 and you won't need to dump a bunch of mod money into it. At 20 years old; 412 horses should be more than enough.
The $750 coupon can be used in addition to any rebates and the X plan.

As far as insurance is concerned, have you asked around for quotes? By no means is mine cheap but it isn't ridiculously expensive either. If you have good credit and no accidents it should be fine.

I know it may seem picky, but I'm just simply not a fan of the rear end on the 11-12 mustangs. I would LOVE to have a GT though ://. But then again, like someone just said I have to factor in insurance. I haven't gotten any serious quotes yet but I couldn't imagine it'd be pretty being 20 and having 412 horses. It really sucks too because I had my eyes set on the GT for such a long time, then reality set in on how affordable it actually was. And I could afford it, but with what I make monthly, after insurance, car, gas, cellphone, and other miscellaneous bills, I'd have next to nothing to set aside. I think the V6 will be solid, especially after some mods. Thanks for the input in so far! Also, the current rate on Ford's website for a 72 month loan is 5.9. Does that seem high? Why do they kinda promote as if it something special? Is that something that is negotiable if it's "promotional financing?"

Don't know where you are or how set you are on New, But my dealer has a very low mileage 2011 GT Kona blue and a New 2012 V-6 MCA super low prices, way under Invoice. I saw them when I bought my 2014 V-6. If you would like the dealer PM me and I'll send you the info. they sell to everyone no matter where you are.

Generally, X Plan is usually a bit more than invoice. I recently bought a 2013 Explorer Limited for the wifey, and X Plan was about $120 more than invoice. If you have a dealer willing to do invoice, don't even bring up X Plan. X Plan is a good back up plan if you have to deal with a dealer that won't budge on price, but it does not look like that in your case, so I wouldn't bother with it.

So you have considered the V8. You sure you won't have buyers remorse in the future? Might save you money in the long term. Just saying search around and it's common for the sixers deciding to trade in for a 5.0. at some point.
When you mod a V6 you are sure to violate a warranty. Wouldn't you think it would be more affordable to buy a 5.0, keep stock and retain your warranty just in case something catastrophic happens. A stock 5.0 equates to a heavily modified v6 if im not mistaken.
Basically if saving money is a concern make sure you are dead set on keeping that V6 and when do, you'll be modding the hell out of it. Which is bound to effect your warranty. Which then removes that safety net that could possibly cost you more money in the long term.

Tell the dealer that you also just found out about the X-Plan option. It very well save you a bit more. Be upfront and see if it can save you both a few $$$. Good luck with the V6. At 20, that will save you on insurance and with 305 HP, it will still be a blast to drive!
Good luck!
