Guys, the cold hard truth is that V6 mustangs are marketed as a financially beneficial option to the GT; they're not made to be GT's, they're not marketed as GT's, they're made to save money on fuel and on sticker price. Most people buying V6 Mustangs are not at all interested in making their car MORE expensive to own and operate. As a result, there aren't a whole lot of aftermarket options for the V6 Mustang. Those companies aren't going to spend money on developing something that is going to sit on the racks in their inventory warehouses.

These aren't your granny's V6 anymore

 

That might have been true in the Fox, and SN95 3.8's who only made 135HP/185HP. Now you have 3.7 with 305HP that can beat the Fox 5.0, and the SN95/New Edge 4.6 (depending on bolt-ons). Kinda makes sense to me to move with the times. I think the V6 crowd has proven we will buy almost ANYTHING made for us to go faster or sound better.

The V6 crowd is a lot smaller than the V8 crowd. Also, while your V6 is more powerful than a fox V8 from 20+ years ago, it's well below the power output of the modern 5.0. Your car isn't running in 1985. It's running in 2013. While the V6 is more powerful, it is still an economic option to the V8. It's still not going to be bought by most people who will make their vehicle more expensive to own. Those people are still buying the performance model.

 

I agree that most that want a Mustang but aren't in to modding them will probably get a V6 since it has better economy, less to own and still all of the styling of the V8 but I disagree with that the V6 is a lesser car and its suppose to be below the output of the 5.0. If it wasn't what would be the point of having it. It appeals to people for different reasons. I could easily afford a V8 but I got a great deal on the V6 and decided I didn't want to extra expense of the 5.0 while modding it. I love how the 3.7 even heavily modded gets great gas mileage and is a very nimble car. Its also a challenge for me to make a sleeper because people like you always think well its only a V6 why didn't you get a 5.0. I will sink 10K into my car and be faster and handle better than a track pack 5.0 and still come out less. I will have fun doing it because I love to work on my car and learn. I've had many Mustangs '04 GT, '08 GT, '12 V6 and the one I have now my '14 V6 and I wouldn't trade the one I have now for anything. Its the BEST one I've had yet. I see you have a Shelby and I almost got one but the dealer didn't want to come off the 10K mark up. The 13-14 are some bad*** Stangs but even if I did get it I wouldn't get rid of my V6.

 

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

 

This whole member measuring debate made me think of doing a V6 swap into a Mustang, be interesting to see what and VR38DETT would do. But in all honesty the other posters are right, the V6 probably isn't the target market for most performance companies.

That's a bad *** motor, Jackie. I have zero issues with anyone who stuffs x brand motor into y brand car. Funnest car I ever rode in is a 1987 rx7 with a 350 shoehorned in.

 

Thought that was common practice with RX7's since they have an awfully unreliable motor.

Hate that term, bolt ons, it all bolts on. How much did the guy put into it? Cause I thought a bone stock GT would put down about 360.

 

I'm not arguing with you, and I'm not condemning/disrespecting the V6. I'm simply pointing out the fact that the car is geared (no pun intended) toward more financially prudent individuals. The aftermarket manufacturers are going to make and design what sells. There are fewer V6 owners who will mod their car for greater performance. It's not an insult to the V6 or their owners; it's just a statement of fact. Don't know what else to tell you.

 

No worries. Still it would be great if they came out with headers for the V6. Would go great with my Magnaflow street cat-back
