New Kona V6 -- MINE!
New Kona V6 -- MINE!
Finally took delivery this morning of my new 2012 Kona Blue V6 with Pony Pkg. Of course, it rained all day and it's supposed to continue until Thursday so it'll be a few days before I can get any pics. My thanks to Deysha (aka FordCustomerService) for her help tracking it -- you provide a valuable and much appreciated service to the MS community. I hope you realize how grateful people are for your help.
First impressions -- WOW! After driving pick-ups (Fords, of course) for most of the last 25 years, this is quite a change. Technologically it's a quantum leap from my most recent Ranger FX4 -- the voice activated SYNC is cool, Shaker audio system is real nice (if a little tinny-sounding), and I like the leather seats (saddle). Not a lot of room in the back seat but I won't be sitting there so no worries for me. Besides, I really didn't buy this to shuttle around passengers . . .
Bought it with the 3.31 gears so I'm hoping to give them a workout once the roads dry out. Having said that, I can already feel the vast difference in power that the V6 offers compared to my truck -- lighter car, more powerful, efficient engine -- it just goes fast. I can't imagine what you guys (and gals) in the GT or Boss must feel like when you really open it up. Obviously I didn't buy the V6 to compete with the GT or the Boss but it's still got quite enough of power for this newbie.
Anyway, it'll take me a while to really learn how to drive and maintain the car. I plan to spend quite a lot of time browsing and lurking around here -- hoping to learn from all of you more experienced folks. This place is great, everyone seems friendly and real knowledgeable. Looking forward to the next few years with all of you!

Welcome Al! Congrats on the new ride! You got the best color! You'll definitely find a lot of good info here. Check out the area on Black Fire Wet Diamond, great stuff to keep your Kona looking great. Post some pics soon.

No prob! Water spots are a PITA with Kona. Get a good treatment of Black Fire on it and the water beads right off. Get yourself some good drying towels and buffing rags, like microfiber. I had swirls in my paint from cheap towels and they really showed bad on Kona. Learned my lesson the hard way. Detailed Image has a good selection of car care products.

True, rain stinks. Not any reason not to post pics of it. If you're so proud of it, show it off! Just send us better pics when weather clears up. It isn't like we haven't seen water spots or water drops. Understand you want 1st pics to be great, oh well. I have a black car, I know all about them. Congrats, though!!
OK, hope this works . . . just took a pic of the new ride in the rain. Not a great shot -- but it least it proves it's in my driveway!
Thanks to everyone for their well-wishes. I promise to get some better shots when the rain stops, and after it's washed and waxed.
