New guy with question

Just bought the wife a 2012 GT with 3470 miles on it from a Lincoln dealer, the car has a C&L cai but the dealer did not have tuner for it.. How can I tell if it has a tune and if it does how can I get it back to stock?

Thanks rod

Without the tuner that was paired with the car the only way to return it to stock would be to get a Ford dealer to reflash the pcm with a stock tune.

I believe, however, that C&L makes a no tune required CAI so it may not have a tune on it.

If it has the insert inside the tube then you don't need a tune. If you want to get more out of it you have to take the MAF insert out and then you would need a tune.

Ok I pull the air filter off and I don't see any type of insert in the mass air, what does it look like.. Maybe I am missing something? I guess I will go back to the Lincoln dealer I got it from and see if it has a tune in it. Will I have to have ford flash a stock tune in it and then get a tuner with a tune for the intake?

Thanks again

well if you flash it back to stock then you'll need a stock intake.

thus causing you more issues.

Are you having issues with it?

If not you could just leave it be unless you are wanting to change something on it.

But yes, the dealer should be able to tell if it has a tune and flash it back to stock if you don't want the tune on it. You would need to put the stock air intake back on it with a stock tune.

You need to know if the car is tuned. If you have a 93 tune now and run 87 gas, you're asking for problems. You should easily be able to tell driving the car; it's night & day difference. If you don't want a tune, I'd buy a cai that requires no tune and have Ford flash it to stock. Likewise if you want a tune , I'd have it flashed to stock and get the cai/tune of your choice. Either choice, atleast you'll know what you have.

You could always just put 93 in it...
