New 2012 Auto GT: my 1/8 mile times

So took my new 2012 to the drag strip to see what she could do, 100% stock 6AT 5.0 on my 285/35/19 Continental ExtremeContact DW street tires.

I felt like an idiot, first time racing at the track in over 10-years. I go through the water box and forget to turn TC off, so my burn out wasn't going so well, but I rectified the issue and got a little heat in the tires.

The first two runs, I left the car in Drive, Staged, and did my run. The last run I decided to try and manually shift. It looks like my times would have improved, but when I shifted to second, it paused much too long, guess I got too close to the rev limiter in first.

Lastly, at the beginning of my third run, the track official said I would need a helmet to keep running, apparently faster than 8.59-seconds in the 1/8-mile requires a helmet.

Here is the pic to the time slips:

1st run:
R/T = .919
60' = 2.232
330' = 5.795
MPH = 65.18
1/8 = 8.665
MPH = 84.56

2nd run:
R/T = .217
60' = 2.062
330' = 5.612
MPH = 65.33
1/8 = 8.475
MPH = 84.81

3rd run:
R/T = .483
60' = 2.056
330' = 5.730
MPH = 63.47
1/8 = 8.637
MPH = 83.73

If the weather holds up for Friday, I'll go back with my Bama Tune and Steeda CAI, and a helmet, and hope for some improvements.

Went back to the track tonight, loaded my Bama 91P Tune only, otherwise all stock. Next time I will add the Steeda CAI with another Tune.

Here's my new 1/8 times with Bama 91P Tune only, 4th run was my best. I was launching at 1,500 rpm's, transmission in Drive, street tires w/small burnout, 59F, 64% humidity.

1st run:
R/T = .467
60' = 2.046
330' = 5.507
MPH = 66.70
1/8 = 8.298
MPH = 86.77

2nd run:
R/T = .502
60' = 2.041
330' = 5.470
MPH = 67.59
1/8 = 8.239
MPH = 87.81

3rd run:
R/T = .834
60' = 2.005
330' = 5.440
MPH = 67.14
1/8 = 8.217
MPH = 87.19

4th run: (Best Run)
R/T = .662
60' = 2.004
330' = 5.434
MPH = 67.18
1/8 = 8.205
MPH = 87.38

5th run:
R/T = .704
60' = 2.021
330' = 5.463
MPH = 67.08
1/8 = 8.237
MPH = 87.27

How are you launching to get your sixty foot down?

I saw another thread with someone talking about their launch experimenting and tried it the way they said worked best, 1500rpm, leave in D.

I'm sure with slicks the car would drop another .1 to .2 seconds.

Went back with the Steeda CAI and Tune, happy with 1st run, all other runs were slower than the first, regardless of what I tried. Air temp was 75F, humidity 55%.

1st run: (Best Run) Bama 91P Tune
R/T = .396
60' = 2.013
330' = 5.434
MPH = 67.37
1/8 = 8.193
MPH = 87.73

2nd run: Bama 93R Tune
R/T = .307
60' = 2.085
330' = 5.610
MPH = 66.04
1/8 = 8.416
MPH = 87.40

3rd run: back Bama to 91P Tune
R/T = .246
60' = 2.101
330' = 5.618
MPH = 65.90
1/8 = 8.423
MPH = 86.37

4th run:
R/T = .320
60' = 2.127
330' = 5.698
MPH = 65.25
1/8 = 8.562
MPH = 84.95

5th run:
R/T = .322
60' = 2.090
330' = 5.608
MPH = 65.86
1/8 = 8.417
MPH = 86.21

I'm guessing the engine mgmt was picking up some detonation and started yanking timing; I kept losing speed and time by the 330', so while my launches were fairly consistent, it was falling flat. All the Steeda CAI seemed to be doing for me was making the loud sucking noise. When I got home from the track, I put the stock airbox back on.

You will run faster with stock air box or Airaid with insert in. I ran with tune and stock air box, tune, Airaid insert in and tune Airaid insert out. Best run was with Airaid insert in and second was with stock air box.

Actually you lost most of your time in the sixty foot time. First run was about a tenth better then any other
