Need your help.
I am seriously considering getting a 2014 base GT with manual tranny. The only option will be either the 3.55 or 3.73 gear. Are there any pros/cons to either gear, not taking into account mpg as I only put about 2,000 to 2,500 miles a year on it.
What gear would you guys get? I really like the feeling of being pushed back into the seat, but just wondering if there are any cons to the 3.73 gear other than reduced mog. I would appreciate any input.

But yes, there's only a few options that are a "must" get with our cars... For 2012, they were the brembo pkg and 3.73. If push back in your seat is what you want, then 3.73 is what you need to get. Since mpg is a non factor, then there you go.

Wow Jeff you serious??? I remember you getting your car around the same time as mine. I thought you loved your V6? What happened? Crossing over to the dark side eh? ![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Are you ordering one or did you find one from the lot? I think the question here is: Track Pack or not. Since TP comes standard 3.73 gears, why not get it if going 373's, that sort of thing.
Another thing to consider is NVH (mostly the whining noise) commonly associated with 3.73 gears and Torsen Differential. I was lucky(?) enough to get 3.55's so I don't have any issues (yet) in this regards. Actually, I wanted to get TP so bad but ended up brembo 355's and glad I did cause I don't have the noise. Not making any sense huh.
As far as pulling yourself back when accelerate, I doubt the gear ratio makes THAT MUCH difference unless you supercharge your Stang. I'm sure many will disagree however. Some even mentioned 355's are better suited for Track use than 373's, maybe better for

[better for... Drag Racing (373's that is). I'd still jump on getting 13-14year models in either choice of gears because they are the last of their kind.] End of message. hahaha.
Push you back. Yes, our coyote Five-O will certainly push you back. Give it some rev/rpm before letting go clutch and it will rocket out. Another question is will you notice it. Somewhat. I think its the Engine being V8.
I come from Tiny Turbo-Charged Mitsubishi Evo9 back in the days but be warned. You will NOTICE you are being pushed back in this car.
Does this mean Evo is faster than Stang? Not entirely

I have the track pack with 3.73's. Wish I could have gotten 3.55's because I like the slightly taller gears for what I do with the car. The 3.73's pull hard in 1-5 really, but I run out of rev's in 3rd by 90mph or so, and this engine is so powerful it can easily handle taller gears.
Have you looked at the gearing comparison chart in this forum? Gives a good comparison of speed in gears and may help you decide...
Will you drag race or road course the car?
Also, I've never pulled better than 24 mpg (driving about 68mph on cruise control for 300 miles) with my 3.73's, but when I had a rental 2012 GT (with auto tranny and much taller gears) I was getting more like 26-27 mpg on the highway at higher speeds...
I think 3.55's are perfect for this car, 3.31's would be if it's a highway cruiser and occasional sprinter. 3.73's are perfect for the Boss in my opinion because of the higher revving engine.

I have a 2014 GT TP with the 3.73. I have some of the gear whine with mine (but very minor), but 95% of the time I wouldn't trade them for 3.55s. The other 5 % of the time I would for road courses. Taller gearing seems more suited for road racing.
If you're not planning on racing, then think about what you want to do with the car later. Like others have said, if you plan on keeping it naturally aspirated, and you don't mind shifting more often, then 3.73 will give you the biggest smile on your face while accelerating.
P.S. I know you don't care about fuel economy, but I've managed 25.2MPG on mine cruising @70mph

I ordered my GT/CS with 3:55's and the car definitely pulls hard. If I really get on it 2nd gear is awesome, second to third punch is amazing, by the time I'm in 4th I'm asking for a speeding ticket.

When I ordered my car I wanted the Brembo Brake Package and as much gear as I could get. The difference in gears at speed is roughly 200 more rpm, and my 3.73's have never made any noise. Some complain that 1st is useless because it's so short with 3.73's, yes it's short but far from useless IMO.
